Dabo Swinney updates the latest on Bryant Wesco Jr.'s health |
Tigers head coach Dabo Swinney provided an update on sophomore wide receiver Bryant Wesco Jr.'s health on Monday.
Wesco has already been ruled out for the season after an awkward landing with head/helmet first on a punt return in the SMU game. Wesco was sent to the hospital during the game and spent time there over that game weekend. "Bryant's doing great. He actually flew to Pittsburgh today to see the doctor up there," Swinney said on his radio show Monday. "Just get another opinion from the doctor here. Both of the doctors are on the exact same page and advised him on what he needs to do moving forward. He's doing great. Again, just very, very fortunate that it wasn't worse. "The prognosis and long-term projection is great. Expect him to make a full recovery and all that stuff. He definitely will be out this season, and we'll limit him this spring, as far as no contact and all that stuff, and take a ton of precaution on him. As long as there's nothing crazy happening, we'll expect him to be back next year." Given that Wesco played in seven games, Swinney added that they will not pursue a medical redshirt, but the Tigers head coach hinted to a player of Wesco's talent not needing five seasons at the college level with pro aspirations ahead. Wesco is Clemson's leader in receptions (31), receiving yards (537; 6th in the ACC) and receiving touchdowns (6; T-1 in the ACC).
