Clemson QB to transfer |
Rising sophomore QB Zerrick Cooper announced he will transfer from Clemson through a Clemson football tweet Friday morning.
"Thank you to Coach Swinney, the Clemson staff & the best fans in college football for an incredible two years," Cooper posted. "The memories & relationships I have built with my teammates will be truly unforgettable. I will miss playing in Orange & Purple. However, after much prayer & thinking with my family, I have decided to transfer from Clemson University. This is no reflection on the Clemson family but rather a direct reflection of my drive to lead, play & compete. Orange & Purple will always be in my heart." Much love Clemson family #Allin??
Cooper, as a redshirt freshman, attempted 41 passes with a 61 completion rate for 256 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions last season. He had 10 carries for 18 yards as well. The Jonesboro, Georgia native was a four-star prospect, rated as the fourth-best player out of Georgia by ESPN and as high as the No. 7 QB in his class (247Sports). As a senior, he passed for over 2,000 yards and 21 touchdowns. Cooper told TigerNet on Friday that he will be visiting the campus of Jacksonville State this weekend.
