Clemson LB target decommits from Ohio State |
Four-star Nashville, Tennessee linebacker prospect Kane Patterson has decommitted from Ohio State, per multiple reports Friday evening.
Patterson is rated as high as the No. 6 inside linebacker nationally and committed to the Buckeyes in July. Clemson offered Patterson earlier this month. In the news all month, Ohio State coach Urban Meyer was suspended this week for three games - already on leave since the start of camp this August - in regards to his decision-making surrounding former Buckeyes coach Zach Smith. As a defender, Patterson totaled 64 stops, 10.5 for loss, with a pair of sacks and an interception last season. As a running back, he topped 1,000 rushing yards with 23 touchdowns. There's no doubt the investigation into Urban Meyer played a key role in Patterson's decision to back off his commitment, but a recent offer from Clemson and the desire to play closer to home were also key factors.
I talked with @CPAFootball LB Kane Patterson. He has de-committed from Ohio State. He’ll concentrate on his senior season at this point and will re-visit a college choice decision at a later date.
