Brownell hosts top big man William Stevens for crucial visit |

One of Clemson’s top hoops targets was on hand last weekend to see Clemson take on LSU in a different sport, and he spent quality time with head coach Brad Brownell and the coaching staff.
Brownell hosted one of his top targets for the 2026 class in 6-10 William Stevens of Lake Norman, NC. Brownell offered Stevens after seeing him play in the summer. The official visit was not his first visit to Clemson. Stevens had visited three times prior. But the official visit gave him the opportunity to make a deep dive into the program. “Got there Friday morning and met with the coaches and toured the facilities,” Stevens said. “I met with the president. Had a regular meeting, just watching some stuff, watching some film, and just hung out with the players. That was the first day. Second day, pretty similar. Meeting with the coaches in the morning, talked about some different stuff. Then at night, we just went to the football game and tailgate, and Sunday morning I had another meeting with the coaches, and then I left.” Stevens said the messaging from Brownell was straightforward and that Brownell thinks Stevens could thrive with the Tigers. “He was just saying that fit matters,” Stevens said. “He thinks his program is a great fit for me. He thinks they will use me well. Generally, their bigs do good there.” Clemson was already in a strong place with Stevens before the visit. Status quo with that on the backside of the weekend. “I’ve always thought pretty highly of them, and that’s the reason they are in my top five,” Stevens. It’s just good to know that I’m welcomed down there and they are really excited about me.” Stevens will continue with his official visits. He is attending a camp in California this weekend and will visit St. Mary’s on Monday while on the West Coast. He will go to Vanderbilt on September 26th and South Carolina on October 3rd.
