Former Clemson standout called up by Rays |
Former Clemson standout Richie Shaffer was called up by the Tampa Bay Rays from Triple-A Durham on Wednesday according to team officials.
Shaffer batted .227 with eight homers, 41 RBIs, and a .335 on-base percentage this season with the Durham Bulls. In 2015, he batted .189 with four homers, six RBIs, and a .307 on-base percentage with the Rays his rookie season (31 games). The former Clemson product was drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in the first round (25th overall) of the 2012 First-Year Player Draft.
