Clemson returns to Top 5 in college baseball poll |
A winning week meant a move back into the Top 5

The Tigers (32-7) are back up to No. 5 overall there in a Top 5 with an SEC quartet at the top with Texas A&M, Arkansas, Tennessee and Kentucky. Baseball America kept Clemson at No. 4, with Texas A&M, Arkansas and Tennessee at the top. "After last week losing its first series of the season, Clemson bounced back with a solid week at home. After splitting the first two games of its series against Pitt, Clemson left no doubt in the series finale. Jimmy Obertop homered three times in that game and went 7-for-14 with five home runs in the series to lead the Tigers. They have a tough week on the road ahead, starting Tuesday with a rivalry game at Georgia before a trip to Louisville on the weekend," Baseball America's writeup. The next ACC rep in each poll is Duke (No. 5 for D1; No. 6 for BA). Wake Forest (8 for D1; 10 for BA) and Florida State (10 for D1; 6 for BA) join Clemson in the Top 10 for both polls. In ACC stats, Clemson is up to No. 2 in ERA (3.91) with a Top 5 mark in strikeouts (No. 4; 382) and walks allowed (No. 1; 145). Individually, Aidan Knaak is No. 2 in ERA (2.59), No. 4 in strikeouts (75) and No. 4 in opposing batting average (.200). Austin Gordon is up to No. 2 in saves (6). On the hitting side, Blake Wright is Top 10 in home runs (No. 5; 16) and RBIs (No. 6; 50), while Jimmy Obertop is in that tier in walks (No. 4; 38). Clemson returns to action at Georgia (No. 20 in D1 rankings; 29-10) on Tuesday (7 p.m./ESPNU) and then heads to Louisville (23-16, 9-9) for a weekend series starting Friday at 6 p.m. (ACCNX).
