I'd rather not but our overall athletics programs will not be able to compete much longer at this rate.

Agree...I'd rather be in the Big 10...similar overall goals from an athletics and academics standpoint...plus we and fsu, Miami, whomever else joined would give diversity by being in the south and warm weather...$ would be the same as sec...we have an advantage in the Big 10 and get the money...we add absolutely nothing to the sec amd are no different than anyone else but we would get the $...

Agree but the GOR doesn't end until 2036

I would rather stay in the ACC but the money gap is becoming too big and even South Carolina has the potential for getting the upper hand in the future.
The GOR has all ACC schools locked for another 14 years unless the lawyers can figure a way out.

UofSC has been getting a larger chunk of revenue since they joined the SEC... in 1992. What else can money do for them? Same for bunches of big10 and sec schools.
Like he said,

I don't think that anybody should be shocked, or even surprised at the humongous gap in what those two conferences make more than the ACC unless, you have totally forgotten how angry this board was when Swofford agreed with the ESECPN TV rights contract, and with it being locked in with an unheard of length of time contract.
Swofford ran the ACC like it was his personal business to do as he please... ND paid off his retirement fund with that screwed up deal that saved ND'S A$$ the covid season. And in that deal Swofford made with ND, it allowed them to play for the ACC FB championship without them being a member school of the ACC with their FB!!!!

It is past time. We do not belong in ACC. We have a huge stadium and we fill it up. We play schools with small stadiums that are usually half empty. Most of the ACC schools don't give a fip about football. Clemson, FSU, and VT need to bolt to the SEC immediately. We hang around much longer in the ACC and we will become irrelevant.

the commercials were for pretty low end "As Seen On TV" type products and infomercial type schlock. Not even beer or car ads. It was right then when I thought the ACC was circling the drain.

Other than Clemson, FSU, and VT, What ACC school put enough priority and money into their program to be competitive? Maybe Miami moving forward, by they have not done crap for last 15 years. ACC is a football disaster. We need to leave.

re-Tread way too long. He started off behind the Big 10 and ACC, and stupidly thought he would miraculously make up the ground magically. "The Carolina Way" turned out to be a dang bad lie, and in spite of several National.Championships in football, basketball, he got us Peanuts .
Now the new guy has a tougher job because we did NOT treat our Commissioner in a business-like fashion. Full stop. Politics kept an inept, incompetent, overloaded goof as ACC Commissioner, while he screwed the pooch at every turn.
Our new producer better have a concrete PLAN, and that plan starts with getting the ACC the #### out off Greensboro, and into an ACC located in Clemson. We have the most solid track record of getting things done and being successful and doing it quickly.
New location seems to be his priority. Studyin it for too long is a stall tactic. Move the ACC. HQ to Clemson and get moving forward now and quit pissing about. Move to NYC? FIRE HIM!
GO WHERE THE WINNERS ARE OR GO BACK TO WHEREVER YOU CAME FROM, CAPTAIN OBVIOUS.

It doesn’t matter where the office is if it’s run like a business trying to grow with vision. Dabo would be a great CEO for the conference because he would cut out all the BS.

The reason the ACC doesn't get as much money is because it doesn't have the TV ratings of the SEC or BIG 10. Even if all the TV rights had not gone to ESPN, the other network were not going to pay a lot more for relatively mediocre ratings.

Finally? Swoffie thought he had the macro deal!
May 13, 2022, 10:38 AM

Turned into the micro! Why would ND leave their TB rights? It was pretty easy for MD to payoff their contract!
ACC has as many or more Natties across the sports with football, soccer, basketball, softball, lacrosse, hockey, and whatever else as other conferences yet we are lowest paid in D1 TV contracts. It's horrible deal for conference.
We should just suck up every quality team we can and put in out conference. Take WVU, Houston, UCF, USF, Ole Miss, UCONN, etc, etc.
Yes of course that is a little drastic but why not suck up all these schools and create our own Division. We won't compete with SEC $ at this point unless we do something drastic or maybe NCAA grows baseballs and we get a revamp??
I'm just so frustrated with the degradation of my favorite sports!

I don't know what the legal route would be for the new commish to get the ACC out of the 3-4 mil yearly hole that Swoff put it in, but, I would absolutely love to see Clemson to be aligned with 10-12 FB first schools in a new conference. I think that would the be the best way for Clemson to cut all ties with the ACC.
The ACC regardless of how many times they hire/fire, or retire commissioners, the ACC will always be a Basketball first conference that will always keep FB first schools dragging behind!!!

We can all thank the A holes from North Carolina

for this wonderful ESPN deal. The same people in Greensboro and North Carolina that are only concerned with Dook and UNCheat basketball. All they cared about was making sure that the basketball tournament stays in Greensboro because that's the way they did it in the 50's. The money kept going to their businesses (Raycom sports, Jefferson-Pilot). Mean while other conferences were making deals with national media companies, the ACC was making sure all the media money stayed in North Carolina.
The ACC, and Clemson, gets exactly what it deserves by by letting these jack holes run the league for so long. These North Carolina guys got their money, are happily retired and sit around talking about how great everything was in the 60's and 70's.

Just a thought...Dissolve the conference... TX and OU were trying to get the Big XII to do that which would terminate their TV deal. It's probably the only way out of this very bad deal. Those that want to stay can reform under a new name and get another deal... the rest of us will certainly be recruited by better conferences.

Swoffie trying to keep up with the Joneses killed us. We never needed a linear network-- they're a thing of the past and they don't drive enough revenue. He sold out the conference to get that stupid network and now Phillips is stuck with a terrible hand. Not sure what our options are. To think the Coots will get a check for $50M more than us every year is scary, thankfully they are incompetent.

Clemson will always be the football school in the basketball conference. If we wanted to be in a football centric conference we should be in the SEC. Historically speaking it is closer to our origins in the Southern conference (SOCON).
You know the SEC would love to trade Kentucky for us. Outside of a few fluke seasons, they are a perennial whipping boy on the gridiron. ACC gets another basketball program and we get better football revenue and matchups. No way the ACC lets us out easy though, this program is the golden goose of ACC revenue. Football pays, basketball doesn't, and the ACC will continue to use the money we bring in to continue pursuing basketball as the main focus.

Ridiculous to sign a contract for that duration. It seemed ok for a few years, but then the market changed. Now the conference is somewhat stuck for another 14 years.
