the team played good last night they responded well to

getting blown out by FSU. got beat by a 50/50 3 pointer. We beat SCar the same way except they missed theirs..it happens. So that being said BB did nothing wrong to get him in hot water. He coached well last night. Felt like we were the better team at times and felt good about ball movement and overall effort. So I'm good with our BBALL team even though we are losing more that i'd hoped for the year. I only wish we could eliminate having djitte in at the end of the games. I love his hustle and he has improved so much since he started but its like playing 4 on 5 on the offensive end and he just doesn't understand situational BBALL yet. Have no problem with him playign alot and getting his minutes but at the end of games in crunch time he's a liability. I love his hustle but Thomas needs to play to have our best chance of not blowing it.

what you can't do is foul in that situation if you guard

too close while the PG is dribbling down the court and get called for blocking then there goes 2 free throws to tie it up. I think you do give up the 3 and hope for the best. The only problem i had was Djitte or whoever that was supposed to be on the wing not getting out there with pressure. If we'are playing a zone or man to man it doesn't matter, whoever that person that was supposed to be there has to get to his area. It was Djitte not analyzing his responsibilities and not being on his toes. ..so Brownell takes the hit for not reminding him to do his job. Like i mentioned earlier if anything gets critiqued here its having djitte in the game in the final minutes. But they should have won against a better, taller, more accurate perimeter team and we should have won but didnt'. Had they come out and got torched by 15 or so then I would be willing to submit that the team has no leadership and don't respect the coach. But they didn't. They played pretty good.

gonna lose at Clemson in basketball. I'm 36 and have seen winning being the routine here about 4 years of those 36 years. Competing with the blue bloods consistently and getting a shot at the tourney is the goal. In my opinion we are doing that. Getting over the hump everyonce in a while is the tricky thing here bc it can go either way.

They couldn't grab a rebound to save humanity. Perimeter defense was as poor as we've come to expect. Same story different day. No improvement.

and thats personnel, you have two options at Clemson

i've learned this over the years...you can either recruit the type of bodies that get you rebounds and toughness but sacrifice scoring and free throws. Or you can recruit shooters and sacrifice rebounds and shut down defense. For instance you can have a team full of chucky gilmores, tom widemans, and ray hendersons and be known for tough defense and consistent on the board but score 58 points a game. or you can have a team of reeds, holmes, devoe's on the floor (all of which are can score but you give up just about every offensive board to another team who can recruit long lean bodies that can do both.
This is Clemson folks. We had a run with Cliff ellis (2 years), Rick Barnes (2 years), and Purnel (2 years) of winning basketball. And what happened? 2 of the 3 left at their prime. So what do you wanna do? Right now we are solid but just that.

They turned the ball over on an inbounds play with a 2 point lead and 1 minute left.
Other teams make it look routine. We regularly fail at it.
That's coaching.

It just pitiful how much trouble we have in bounding the Ball with pressure. It's almost like the team has no idea what to do and Brad must just tell them to run around until open. I played many years of Basketball at many levels and every coach I had practiced this.

against their press defense. WE used to be a ton worse. That last turnover was a uncalled foul, go back and watch it. But its so close to the end that the refs were scared to call it. They probably used the "each player has the right to a loose ball" rule. Bu those guys sandwiched him and ran into him.

we inbounded well and had their press beat....only to miss multiple 2 on 1 or 3 on 1 opportunities on the other end. Frustrating for sure. On the said inbounds play....we probably needed a timeout there...almost got the 5 seconds and definitely forced a pass to one of our smaller players near mid court....not a good play by any of our guys there

ball taken away? two guys sandwiched him and the ball popped out while the official swallowed his whistle. We made it look pretty routine the whole 2nd half where they pressed except that one play.It was a big one too but he was fouled.

than losing at home, on a buzzer beater with a 3-pt shooter wide open and unguarded after the coaching staff got confused by the personnel on the court. Didn't guard the in-bounds pass, stacked 3 defenders (IIRC) near half court and allowed them to drive with ease to kick out to, again...a wide open shooter that was wide open becausethe coaches got confused. But other than that they did nothing wrong.
