That reminds me about neighbors I had who made their own kimchi. The smell was horrendous. Not much smells worse than fermenting cabbage buried in the ground. It almost turned me against it. I love som kimchi and these wonderful Asian neighbors made the best I ever have had.

I love threads like this and don't mean to be a kill joy. UNM has a passionate fan base, their home games are in the arena call the pit. They aren't usually a very good team but they'll always give you all they got. We'll win and I'll consider beating them a really good win for us.
I hate that commercial too.

Smells are such powerful memory triggers.

I remember being in my grandmothers kitchen many years ago. My grandfather stumbled in through the back door with a huge bloody gash on his arm. He had been pulling stumps with a mule team, and the log chain broke and laid open a deep flesh wound across his shoulder. The jarring site was too much for me, and I fainted right in the middle of the kitchen floor. When I came to all of a sudden, all I could smell was sour cream, because my grandmother had used a smear of it under my nose to revive me. Meanwhile, she had also packed my grandfather‘s gash with some boiling tar/creosote so he would be good to go back to work after lunch. She was serving some beef tips and baked potatoes, and she sat me up at the dinner table and made me wipe the sour cream from under my nose onto my potato and eat it so that I would not waste it. From then, on, the smell of sour cream always brought me back to that special moment.

I love that story. Goodness, I’d give anything to go back to my MeMaws house for Sunday dinner. They entire family showed up in Spartanburg from as far away as Atlanta. After she passed in 1987, our family has rarely come together like we did around her. Every time I break out the pressure cooker I think about her. She used to make the cheapest beef so tender and delicious using a pressure cooker. I cannot wait to see her in Heaven.

Love it . . . .
Probably deserves a limerick.
And maybe basketball needs limericks - maybe no limericks is the problem ? We should try it.
Great, great story . . . . thanks for posting.

A player like big PJ Hall Should always be getting the ball Down low in the post. What frustrates the most Is when he’s not down there at all…

It did not survive. And, I did not get close enough to smell it.
