Dumb car service rant.

Brought my car to the stealership for service this morning. I was due for an oil change, which could be done anywhere, but I also wanted them do some warranty work and adjust my headlights so I can stop blinding oncoming traffic. (My high beams are entirely ornamental and every time I drive at night I make fresh enemies.)
When I made the appointment I said I could drop my car off the night before, but the stupid receptionist said the service wouldn't take very long and I can wait. I made the appointment for 8 AM so I would miss as little work as possible. The dealer is about an hour away because Alfa Romeo has a terrible network, so I had to get dressed and leave the house at a time which mispleased me.
The ride up was fine until I got to the last couple miles, which were the New Jersey equivalent of Mad Max: Fury Road. If you don't see at least one person crossing three lanes at once with no blinker while shouting "WITNESS ME!" it's considered a dull affair. Without getting into details, this final leg of the trip reduced me to a boiling cauldron of volcanic rage.
I went in the service entrance and told them why I was there. It's not uncommon for people to mispronounce my last name, but this guy said it like it didn't have any vowels. That was a new one for me and I didn't appreciate it. Then he told me that the headlight adjustment was going to take a while, so he was warning me in advance.
I lost my shit. I was like, "Why are you telling me this NOW? I said I could leave me car for the day and the stupid ####### bitch on the phone said it would be a quick service." He asked me how much time I needed. I said that's not the point. I live an hour away, I made this appointment a week ago, I have to work today, and you're only mentioning NOW that it's a time-consuming service. We went back and forth a few times until I pointed out that we were going in circles. I finally told him to do the ####### oil change and give me my car back.
The service took an hour. They also did one of those dealer inspections of the bits and bobs, but still... an hour. When I paid he told me to ask for him by name the next time I make an appointment. I told him there won't be a next time.
Total cost: Three hours, $222.17, and my sanity. The punchline is, the only reason I brought it to the dealer was for the services they didn't perform. FML.
Sidebar: I bought my car almost exactly a year ago and they still have the same Maserati MC20 in the showroom. The window sticker says $300k, but it looks like it's marked down to a measly $235k. Anybody wanna split it?

The average new car costs $48k. The Giulia Veloce is only a few thousand more than that. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up.

Scheduled maintenance isn’t included with the Maserati either, so factor that into your arithmetic.

My old Porsche dealer record was $180, but that was like 8 quarts of their overpriced stuff.
Well done, Mr. Tstvrdy.

(at least to LR Dealer prices)under the CPO warranty. It needed head gaskets, new spark plugs/wires and an oil change--the oil change was $177. In 2010. For regular old Quaker State with a green Land Rover label.
I laughed at the oil change and asked if they were going to make me try and pay for new anti-freeze too, because that was part of the head gasket change. Service dude just looked at me with a smirk.
I didn't buy a $177 oil change, but did spend $1500 on spark plugs and wires.

I got mines changed on Thursday. They did it while I sat in the truck and it was $86, but I found a coopin online and got $10 off. Of course there's oil on my garage floor because NOBODY knows how the french to wipe off the excess oil after changing it.
Mine was expensive because it uses 8 quarts. The dang DIY kit is $61.

for an oil change because I add a quart of oil every 3 weeks. All I have to do is change the filter and reset the tracker when it gets to 0.
Also, you live an hour away from a Jiffy Lube? Jesus. I thought I lived in BFE
