Dabo says all of our problems are fixable

I absolutely believe this. My only question is, will he fix everything that needs to be fixed or only those things he is comfortable addressing?
I took my older car in recently and they gave me a laundry list of things I needed to address and fix. I only did the ones that I was comfortable with and that didn't cost me too much.
I hope Dabo is better at this than I am...

please. And for the purposes of this question, let's assume that everything is not magically fixable via the Transfer Portal Magic Elixir.

Can you fix the apparent lack of talent at the WR position during the season? Maybe the staff will play the freshman and that will fix it. If it does, why didn't they play vs Duke?

Neither can the generally unimpressive player development we’ve seen recently.
Transfer portal usage obviously can’t change before the offseason.

Sorry, can’t fix a wide receiver room That is devoid of talent. We won national championships because we had an elite wide receivers who could win a jump ball when we had to have it. Those guys are not on the team. Dabo knows this, but he refuses to talk about it or address the problem. It’s really odd.

We won nasties with Hunter Renfrow, slow, white and nobody wanted him but he had a huge heart and a will to catch the pass...we have good folks but seem to have lost our teachers and our imagination!

He was quicker than a chipmunk.
You could play tag with him in an elevator and never touch him.
Top end speed, yeah not great, but that matters little for a slot wr.

Renfrow caught 100 balls in one season as a starter in the NFL. He's well known as one of the best route runners there is, and has great hands. Don't pretend like he doesn't have talent.

It takes the portal to fix those problems. Dabo hates the portal, therefore they aren’t going to be fixed.

We are one the most talented teams in the country, we didn’t get there with the portal.
Who’s your team & why are you telling us what we need to do, what has your team done with the portal consistently?

The talent isn't translating to the field anymore

We've had so many blue chip guys recently that either became "busts" or simply failed to meet expectations. We've had guys that looked just as good their FR year as they did 2-3 years later.
I just don't think the staff is doing a good job coaching and developing talent anymore. Sure you can look at our roster of 4 and 5 star players and say how talented it is, but then you watch those guys underperform on the field and get beat by less talented opposition and you realize that they just aren't as good as they "should" be given where they were ranked coming out of HS.

These problems are the same ones that have been going on for several years now. If Dabo was willing to fix them he would have done it before he began embarrassing himself by having to explain what defies common sense in today’s football landscape, and suffering losses that embarrass his players, the university, and its fans. Hiring a new OC and Dabo carrying a bigger play sheet than the OC does is proof that the present Dabo is less hungry by far than the old Dabo. You can also tell it just by watching him and listening to him. We always knew it wasn’t far from the penthouse to the outhouse if you are complacent and then stubborn to boot.

You notice how we have not had 8 to 10 players leave to enter the portal as we did have? Dabo should hold out a couple scholarships each year to use on portal guys. If someone leaves go to the portal and use that scholarship to replace.

You have hit on the real problem with Dabo and using the portal. Currently it is a scholarship management issue. We simply don’t have scholarships available to offer anyone in the portal. If you recall, with the return of several defensive players who could have easily gone to the NFL and still having to manage through the extra year of eligibility with Covid, we were looking at being over the limit. Dabo has said he has no issue using the portal but right now his hands are tied. I’ve seen comments here lamenting the fact that we will see some kids leave the program when - if we want him to pick up a wr or 2 - that’s exactly what needs to happen.

If a portal player is the missing link, I would think that the NIL collectives could scrounge up enough money so his tuition was paid and we wouldn't need a scholarship.

mistakes (fumbles, drops, missed FGs, etc) then he's not addressing the real, fundamental problems. That's what I'm afraid of.

The question is, will he do what's necessary to get things fixed which may necessitate firing another coach or two.
The Brandon Streeter issue from last year says he will but we may have to live with some of the angst until after the season.

The only thing I can figure is he wanted to give Goodwin another season to verify if he had what it takes, plus firing the offensive AND defensive coordinators at the same time might reflect poorly on him and/or disrupt the perceived team culture. Otherwise, I don't know why more heads haven't rolled already, other than Dabo is a kind hearted guy.
