Josh Miller (6-1, 215) of Manning, SC is one of the top five players in the state of South Carolina this year. He has received offers from Clemson, USC, FSU, Maryland, Virginia Tech, North Carolina, and Wake Forest.

"I am currently favoring Clemson and Florida State," says Miller.

This is a player who has been speculated as a Clemson lean for several weeks. Some had talked about him possibly committing soon, but that proved to not be true. "I am going to ride the recruiting process out a little longer."

He was supposed to attend a camp at Florida State last weekend, but was unable to attend. "I have rescheduled my trip to FSU for the July 22."

He made a trip to Clemson earlier in the summer. "The Clemson camp went really well. There was a lot of competition out there, but I thought I had a good camp. It was my first trip to Clemson. I really enjoyed the atmosphere there, and they showed me the weight room, track facility, and Vickery Hall."

Coach Burton Burns is recruiting Miller for the Tigers. "I have a good relationship with Coach Burns. He sends me a lot of letters, but I can't call him because its long distance. He says the NCAA won't let him call me right now."

Miller is looking at several factors between Clemson and FSU. "Education and location will be big factors, but I would also like to play early, possibly as a freshman. Coach Burns has talked to me about playing early, because they have some players graduating after this season."

Senior safety Travis Pugh also attended Manning High School and has passed on some words of wisdom to Miller. "Travis told me he likes Clemson a lot, and it is place where I would be able to adapt easy with the location and coaching staff."

Miller is looking forward to a big season at Manning. "With this being my last year, I want to have a big year and do the best I can."

This is a big recruiting battle for the Tigers. Landing Miller would be a big step to closing off the borders for Tigers. The trend this year has been for players to commit early, so they can focus on their team. We will certainly follow Miller over the next few weeks closely. Also, Miller will be on our radio show "The Overdrive" after he takes his visit to FSU.
