More on Pennington...

Dietrick Pennington - 4-star OG - Cordova, Tenn.

Committed since: 7/29/20.

Listed size: 6-5 326.

Brings to Clemson: The Memphis-area lineman earned Mr. Football honors for Division II-AA football in the state of Tennessee. He was highly-regarded in 247Sports’ analysis of that senior campaign: “Wide-bodied lineman, big-jointed with a thick lower half and a bulky upper body. Doesn’t look out of shape but will need to work to keep the right weight on. Would benefit from leaning out and converting some body weight on the next level. Extremely coordinated and balanced for a big body. Plays both ways for his high school and has multi-positional and multi-sport background. Natural feet and lateral agility. Stout against the run and immovable on defense. Slow off the snap and is upright and passive with his hands, partially due to read-and-react technique. Can control blockers when he wants to. We like him as an offensive guard. More of a balanced and controlled mover than a violent disruptor...Looks like a future Power Five impact starter but needs to be in the right system or the right position.”

Depth chart fit: Like for fellow 4-star lineman signee Marcus Tate, Clemson’s young depth chart on the O-line will get a year older and Pennington will have a chance to plug in for depth in 2021.

Robbie Caldwell on Pennington: "Big, big guy. Great person. He's 6-5 and about 325 and very physical and loves to finish blocks. He'll be one that you will enjoy."
