Former Clemson broadcasters to work Furman game |
Former Clemson broadcast team of Pete Yanity and Will Merritt will call Saturday's football game between Furman and Samford at 2 PM on ESPN3.
Yanity said on his facebook account: It's an exciting week as I return to the booth Saturday along with my colleague Will Merritt. We'll be at Furman's Paladin Stadium to call the game between the Paladins and Samford Bulldogs as part of the Southern Conference TV package on ESPN3. Should be quite the contest between teams hungry for a win. Yanity had spent 11 years as the football and men's basketball play by play announcer. Merritt began working in the broadcast booth with play-by-play great Jim Phillips in 2003 and resigned back in May 2014. Merritt played for the Tigers from 1998-2001. He was a starter in 2000 and 2001 when he was named second-team All-ACC. Those are the most productive Clemson teams in history in terms of total offense. He played on three bowl teams at Clemson, including the 2000 team that finished the season ranked 15th in the final AP poll with a 9-3 record. He also was named to the All-ACC Academic team each of those seasons. He graduated from Clemson in December of 2000. Photo of Peter Yanity
