Urban Meyer disagrees with Swinney's comments on OSU's playoff resume |
Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney told Rich Eisen last week that he believes that the college playoff committee should have a standard which choosing the most deserving teams.
"I just think there has to be some type of standard," Swinney said. "If I was on the committee, it would be hard for me to leave out a 10-1 Texas A&M or an 11-game Florida team over a team that’s played six games (OSU). That would be hard for me if I was on a committee, but I’m not on the committee. So it doesn’t really matter. "It doesn’t mean they’re not a great team (OSU) and couldn’t win the whole thing. I just think that there has to be — I just think, from a big-picture standpoint, I would lean toward rewarding the teams that have been all in because it’s been an incredible challenge.” Fox Sports commentator and former Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer disagrees with Swinney's take. The former coach believes that Ohio State should be in the playoffs if they are undefeated because of the dreaded eye test. “I think the job of the College Football Playoff committee: get the four best teams,” Meyer said. “There’s no doubt, they’re one of the four best teams. The argument should stop there. NFL talent all over the place. One of the best offenses in America. The defense has got to get better, but there’s no question I get what Reggie says, and I think the College Football Playoff committee, like we’ve been saying, those two awful words, the ‘look test,’ they are going to have to look at the look test because everything is unequal.” Is Ohio State's resume strong enough to get them in the CFP?@CoachUrbanMeyer, @MattLeinartQB, @ReggieBush and @Brady_Quinn react to Dabo Swinney's comments and discuss whether the Buckeyes are a top 4 team in the country ?? #BigNoonKickoff pic.twitter.com/p50roPgzAz
