Swinney updates Clemson center injury status

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney updated starting center Justin Falcinelli's status for Saturday's game with Louisville during his call-in show Monday.

Falcinelli took a hit to the head midweek in practice last week and wasn't ready to make the trip to Florida State, where Gage Cervenka received his first career start. Swinney said Monday that Falcinelli returned to practice.

"Falci is doing great," Swinney said. "He was back at it today. He wasn’t quite able to go last week….That’s the benefit of building depth and putting guys in situations. Throughout the season Cervenka has played a bunch of guard and a bunch of center and he was our player of the game...Gage played great."

"We’ll get back to full strength this week. Justin has been a great player for us and has been one of our more steady players this year and last year as well."

Falcinelli has played 362 snaps so far this season with starts in the previous seven games.

The Maryland native entered 2018 with 29 knockdowns in 1,229 snaps over 38 games (14 starts) in his career, as a Rimington Trophy Watch List member in the preseason.
