Finebaum believes Swinney was fair to Kelly Bryant |
College Football analyst Paul Finebaum is known for his hot takes mostly with college football. He was a guest on ESPN's First Take show on Wednesday and talked about the recent news of Kelly Bryant's departure and how Dabo Swinney handled the difficult situation.
"He was (fair)," Finebaum said about Swinney. "Kelly Bryant had the job and lost it, and that is the way it goes. Dabo Swinney could’ve misled him and started him this week, and then he couldn't have left. He would have handcuffed him (with new redshirt rule), but instead, he gave him the truth which is something college coaches should do, and they all don't." Finebaum believes that freshman quarterback Trevor Lawrence gives Clemson the best chance to win against elite teams. "I don’t think Clemson can win a national championship with Kelly Bryant," he said. "I think they showed that last season. Alabama shut him down in that semifinal game. "I’m not saying they can with Trevor Lawrence, but they have a better chance."
