have given their commitments to the Tiger coaching staff, and the Tigers are planning on taking 16-to-18 players in the 2013 class, leaving anywhere from 9-to-11 scholarships still open.

In this article, we are going to take a look at the top five targets for the Clemson coaching staff as we head into the late spring and early summer.

Not on this list is Loganville (Ga.) Grayson defensive end Robert Nkemdiche Robert Nkemdiche

, the nation’s number one recruit. Yes, Clemson wants him and has a shot. Nkemdiche is a no-brainer, so we’ll leave him off this list simply because he is the number one target for most schools.

Aside from Nkemdiche, here are the top five targets, in no particular order.

DT Montravius Adams Montravius Adams
Defensive Tackle
6-3, 281
Vienna, GA

View Full Profile
– Adams is the Vienna (Ga) Dooley County 4-star prospect. The 6-4, 300-pounder has 19 offers, and is the nation’s No. 1-ranked defensive tackle. As a junior, he had 84 tackles and a whopping 45 tackles for loss. For a long time, Adams listed Clemson as his leader, but has since said that his recruitment is wide open. Along with Clemson, he says his top schools of choice are Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Michigan St. and Southern Cal. The Tigers are trying to rebuild their defensive line, and Adams would be a great fit.

WR Marquez North Marquez North
Wide Receiver
6-3, 205
Charlotte, NC

– The Charlotte (NC) Mallard Creek wide receiver is a 6-3, 205-pounder and a 4-star prospect with 21 offers. The Clemson coaches saw him last week, and he hears from offensive coordinator Chad Morris and main recruiter Danny Pearman quite a bit. He is the No. 3 wide receiver in the nation and the No. 24 overall recruit, regardless of position. He currently lists Ohio St., Clemson, UNC, Georgia, Florida and N.C. State as his top schools, but Clemson looks to be the leader at this point. He loves the Tigers because of the explosive offense, and he has said he would love the chance to play alongside current Tiger Sammy Watkins. As a junior, he caught 39 passes for 1,022 yards and 19 touchdowns (28 ypc). He also ran the ball 18 times for 410 yards.

DT Michael Hill Michael Hill
Defensive Tackle
6-3, 315
Pendleton, SC

View Full Profile
– The Pendleton (SC) product is the No. 5 defensive tackle prospect in the nation, and last season he had 74 tackles, 25 tackles for loss, 10 sacks and four forced fumbles. Hill’s recruitment has been understated to this point, but all of the big schools have taken notice. His head coach will take him to Alabama, Ohio St., FSU and Michigan over the summer. He has already taken visits to Tennessee, Ga. Tech, South Carolina and Clemson, and his head coach says Hill will probably pick from those eight schools. Chad Morris is the recruiter of record and stays in contact with Hill.

DE Demarcus Walker Demarcus Walker
Defensive End
6-4, 276
Jacksonville, FL

View Full Profile
– The Jacksonville (FL) Sandalwood standout has 30 offers to choose from, and has recently decided that he will make his final decision on May 24th. He is a 6-4, 276-pounder who had 24 tackles for loss and 14 sacks as a junior. Clemson was his first big offer, and the Tigers have been at or near the top of his list since the beginning. Word is that he will choose from Clemson, Florida, Bama, Miami, FSU and LSU in late May. The 4-star prospect is the No. 13-rated defensive end prospect in the nation, and would help fill some of the numbers the Tigers currently lack at the position.

WR Ryan Jenkins Ryan Jenkins
Wide Receiver
5-11, 177
Alpharetta, GA

View Full Profile
– The Marietta (Ga.) Lassiter prospect has jumped onto the radar screen for a lot of schools after showings at recent combines. He is the younger brother of Clemson defensive back Martin Jenkins, another player that flew under the radar coming out of high school but has turned into a solid contributor for the Clemson defense. The Tigers could lose both Nuk Hopkins and Sammy Watkins over the next two years, and would use the addition of both North and Jenkins to help fill the void. Clemson is currently the leader for Jenkins, who caught 25 passes for 415 yards last season. He also has offers from Louisville, Mississippi St., Missouri, UCLA, Vanderbilt and Wake Forest.
