Two Clemson coaches made the trek to south Florida Thursday morning, but the trip was less about football and more about introductions.

at his school Thursday.

Baker told TigerNet that Venables and Reed didn’t spend much time talking football, but instead wanted him to get to know the newly hired defensive backs coach.

“Coach Venables and Coach Reed actually came by my school to see me this morning,”Baker told TigerNet Thursday afternoon. “It went pretty good. We didn’t really talk a lot about football. We just talked about life and general stuff. We didn’t talk al lot about the Clemson program because I already know everything I need to know about Clemson. They just basically wanted me to get to know Coach Reed.”

Baker said that he came away with a great first impression of Reed and his coaching background.

“I hadn’t ever met Coach Reed in person,” Baker said. “He just wanted to give me background information on him. He told me how he got to this point in his career and what he expects as a coach. He just wanted me to get to know him.”

After spending time with Reed and learning that Reed has coached the likes of Brian Dawkins and David Amerson, Baker said he can definitely see himself playing for Reed.

“I can most definitely see myself playing for him,” Baker said. “I knew a little bit about him from his time at N.C. State. He just told me about how he coached defensive backs at N.C. State. I know he is a good defensive backs coach and has coached some really good defensive backs.”

Baker has narrowed his choices down to Clemson and Oklahoma, but he said that he likes the two schools for different reasons.

“I am still trying to decide between Clemson Oklahoma,” Baker said. “I really like both schools.”

Baker said he enjoys the family atmosphere at Clemson and the academics that the university has to offer.

“Clemson is more family oriented than Oklahoma,” Baker said. “They just seem like a big family there. There is definitely an opportunity for me to play early up there. And, I like the academics because I want to major in journalism.”

The tradition and legacy play a major factor in Baker’s draw to Oklahoma.

“Oklahoma has a great history and tradition as a football power,” he said. “They are also family oriented and my family has a history at Oklahoma including my cousin Davin Joseph. They also have really good coaches.”

As a senior, Baker accounted for 38 tackles, four interceptions- including two that were returned for touchdowns- and fives pass break-ups.

Baker also spent time at wide receiver catching 15 passes for 480 yards and seven touchdowns.

As a junior, he amassed 22 tackles, four interceptions- including one that was returned for a touchdown- and he returned a punt for a touchdown.

Baker said that he is still planning to wait until Signing Day to make his decision.
