View Full Profile stood out among all of the other North Carolina linemen at Tuesday’s Shrine Bowl practice at Spartanburg High School, and Clemson fans hope that Crowder will be a standout on Clemson’s offensive line over the next four or five years.

Crowder is the 6-2, 315-pound guard prospect out of Rockingham (NC) Richmond County, and at Tuesday’s practice it was easy to see why many scouting services count him as one of the top guards in the 2013 recruiting cycle.

Crowder, a 4-star prospect, recently narrowed his college choices to Georgia and Clemson, and told TigerNet following the practice that his decision was in an effort to lessen the pressure of recruiting.

“I did it to just kind of get this whole recruiting process over with,” Crowder said. “I didn’t really feel like UNC was the place for me. But with Clemson, they have been with me since ninth grade, and they have stayed with me through everything. They haven’t really put a lot of pressure on me.”

“We have a great relationship,” Crowder said of Caldwell. “He came up to visit me last week, and then the week before that he and Coach [Dan] Brooks came up to see me. It is just building great relationships.”

Crowder said playing time isn’t a concern for him.

“Coach Caldwell said I have a chance of playing early,” he said. “But that doesn’t matter to me. I can redshirt if I have to.”

Crowder said he will be on campus January 11th for an official visit, and he thinks he will have a decision by National Signing Day.

“Right now, it is going to be after the official visits,” he said. “Maybe on National Signing Day. But Clemson is right there – Clemson has a great campus, it is a great lifestyle, I love the style of offense. I like what they have going on down there.”
