No, all of that area was exposed to the rain.

The reason they couldn't play was due to rain causing problems with the dirt areas of the field ... the pitcher's mound especially. Injuries could result from slipping, etc.

However, I can easily see where injuries could have occurred during the pantomimes. Go figure.
