Updated ACC tournament seedings/standings (3/4).....

Mar 5, 2020, 12:14 AM

A good bit of movement tonight....Pitt temporarily goes to the basement since they played their last game...but the stuff at the bottom will change this weekend. Unless UNC beats Duke...they basically will be the last seed....but for tonight they get to be up a bit.

GT has been removed due to probation. I still haven't looked to see if they would factor into tiebreakers, but am assuming a "no" on that at the moment.

Looks like FSU will take the regular season crown....doubt they lose to BC at home this weekend.

At this point, we can't finish lower than 8th. I suppose anywhere from 5th to 8th is possible...depending on what happens this weekend. Games this Friday are GT at Clemson and Wake at NCSU. Games this Saturday are: BC at FSU; UNC at Duke; Syracuse at Miami; Louisville at Virginia; and Va. Tech at Notre Dame.

Now that the "bubble talk" is no more...seeding really doesn't matter as much. If we were still on the bubble, I'd want a favorable matchup in the first game (give me maybe Miami or Pitt) and then maybe Louisville in the 2nd game. But since it's now a matter of having to win the whole thing....I don't think it matters.

My prediction is that we beat GT at home and get NIT eligible. But we may be going home early next week....the teams at the bottom, with the exception of Pittsburgh, have been generally playing better basketball lately.

1. FSU (15-4)
2. Louisville (15-4)
3. UVA (14-5)
4. Duke (14-5)
5. Syracuse (10-9)
6. N.C. State (9-10)
7. Notre Dame (9-10)
8. Clemson (9-10)
9.. Boston College (7-12)
10. Va. Tech (7-12)
11. UNC (6-13)
12. Miami (6-13)
13. Wake Forest (5-13)
14. Pittsburgh (6-14)

If the tourney started today:

Day 1:

11) UNC vs 14) Pittsburgh
12) Miami vs 13) Wake Forest

Day 2:

5) Syracuse vs MIami/Wake
6) N.C. State vs UNC/Pitt
7) Notre Dame vs 10) Va. Tech
8) Clemson vs 9) Boston College

Day 3:

1 FSU vs Clemson/BC
2 Louisville vs ND/VT
3 UVA vs NCSU/UNC/PItt
4 Duke vs Syracuse/Miami/Wake

And so on....

Looks like we will be the 8 seed vs BC, only way we would move up is we win and ND loses. Any tiebreak with ND we would lose.

We can still finish anywhere from 5-8

With a win and 7-8 with a loss. Nothing is settled- too many games left in the conf. We have advantages over SU and NCSU in certain scenarios including ones where ND wins.

Correct. And GT IS factored into the TB scenarios, which I didnt think they would be.

Have you got a link for that?

On other sites (Syracuse, for instance), they are not including GT in the tiebreaker

Just don't want to get matched up with UNC in the first game. They're not a bad team, and are much better than BC at this point in the season.

I think id welcome it.

To beat them 2 times in the same season in the state of NC would be pretty sweet.
