Three ModestPoposals for Better Viewing Pleasure

1. Reduce play reviews.

Go back to a challenge system. Each team gets 1 challenge per half. Each Challenge costs a timeout. If the challenge is successful you keep your challenge flag and get your timeout back. Just like the old days.New wrinkles - you can challenge interference.

The booth can only initiate a review on touchdowns and targeting and ALL reviews have a time limit, say 90 seconds... or less. with the replay feeds the networks give the booth, and the indisputable evidence rule, that's enough.

2. Control "Network timeouts."

We all understand the networks need to make money to pay the schools, but I believe it can be done more effectively. Before kickoff, halftime, and post game should remain unregulated. Change of quarter, I propose 4 minutes. (Tea refill and bathroom break). Change of possession, 90 seconds. Injury timeout, 60 seconds at a time, the network can daisy chain them after 5 second check in if the injured player is still down.

3. Fewer crowd shots, more cheerleaders.

Any producer still on a crowd shot when the ball is snapped should get a 2 game suspension.

ABC Sports’ audio engineer should be fired. Their audio is way too loud on crowd noise and makes the announcers’ voiced very hard to hear. This problem has been present all season. I’ve heard it not only on my older TV but also on my son’s TV which has a state of the arts Sonos sound bar. Plus I was watching yesterday’s game at my son’s home with my new Widex 220 hearing aids and ABC still had the problem.
