R.I.P. Clemson Man & Former Official Tiger Sports Photographer BOB WALDROP.

Apr 28, 2020, 10:09 AM

I went to Greenville High in 1957-59 with Bob. He was a gentleman to all.

After attending Clemson, serving in the Navy couple years & then with J R Sirrine Architects in G’ville, Bob became one of the two professional photographers for the Clemson Athletic Dept for 21 years.

You may have seen him in DV or at away games with his head of beautiful thick white short-cropped hair and good looks busily moving around the sidelines with his big camera..always wearing a kaki-colored sleeveless vest jacket customized with pockets full of his lenses & supplies.

Bob was a natural friend with a smile for all. My best memory of him was from our 1959 ride in his Father’s model T Ford where we rode around Cleveland Park.

Bob passed away Sunday April 26, was 79 and died of Alzheimer’s.

Pic taken late 2018 at his wedding (Yes, his wedding; saying, a Clemson Man needs no introduction..at any age!).

Always sad to hear a Tiger leaving us.

Alzheimer's sucks. Two relatives so far have succumbed to it.

Certainly do remember Bob well. He was a soft spoken gentleman, always. So surprised and sorry to hear this news. He was a great guy and big Clemson lifelong fan!

I remember him from when I used to take photos on the sidelines during the early days of TigerNet.

RIP Mr. Waldrop
