D-line weakness in closing and covering lanes...

Nov 9, 2020, 1:43 PM

From post below on Book’s ability to run and our guys getting blocked to side. That was ND game plan. Knowing we were weak in the middle they lead our young guys upfield and created “lanes” for Book to pass and run through. Simmons used to be able to fill and meet those lanes- we don’t have anyone like him. Also Wilkins could spin into those lanes with his athleticism and Dexter would just collapse the middle. We don’t have a true pocket crusher like dexter and without Davis. Book had lanes all night to convert

Yep, sure hope we get Davis and Skalski back for FSU and rest of the way.

We certainly had lapses and once through the line, the LBs

did not seem to be able to tackle him.

I think there is a speed drop off from the original starters to some of the backups that were starting.

Near the end of the game, maybe in overtime, we had a LB in position to stop Book for a 3 yard game and he ran around the LB and made a 12 yard game.

We just over rushed the outsides allowing him to escape early where he had open range to make throws or run for positive yards.Easy fix for next game.

3-man line got worn down from double-team blocks early...

3-3-5 and missing 3 starters out of the front 6 didn't work, especially considering they were in the middle. I want to see us back in the 4-3-4 as a base.

We definitely need to go back to a 4 man front. That’s where our most talented players are.

Go Tigers! ????

Once we get Davis back it will make more sense

Depth at DT is an obvious concern right now.

Davis at nose guard and Bresee at 3 tech will be nice to see.
