It was a hot summer, and the horses needed to graze

close to home. So dad decided we'd put up a barb wired fence. My boyfriend at the time was trying to prove his worthiness to his girlfriend's dad (lol) so he came over to help. For awhile the boyfriend and I watched my dad chunk the post hole digger into the ground over and over, sweat dripping from his face. All of us were dripping with sweat regardless of our movement.. you know that type of heat. Finally the boyfriend took the posthole digger from my dad and starting digging. At some point, he decided to advice OSF to go inside and work with her mom inside the house. My dad grabbed the pothole driggers from the boyfriend; looked at OSF and shoved the diggers toward her. "Show him how to dig a hole" looking at me.. and looking at the boyfriend "nobody tells OSF where or what she should be doing".
At that moment and for the rest of his life, I knew my dad had no problem with his strong opinionated, loud; over independent daughter that thought she could do anything she wanted to accomplish. My Daddy liked me; not because he had to but because well; because he just did.
Over the years he would prove to be my best friend and my best advocate.. his girl that never embarrassed him, his girl that he didnt always approve of but always understood why she did what she did.
He taught me to eat dirt before asking for a handout, to give 110% to my job,and that it was OK for a female not to #### from anyone just because she didnt have a #####.
Tonight, Daddy, I heard my brother thank for raising him into being a man. But I praise you for raising me to be me OSF. THANK YOU and LOVE YOU
