yeah, why don't you just go eat a big one...

Chanelo's advertisement in The Tiger student newspaper, circa 1976. Hell, I'd give $500 to have a Vesuvian sub sandwich delivered right this minute...

A drunk will run a STOP sign, but a stoner will wait for it to turn green.

Their sandwiches were good. I thought their pizza was kind of greasy.

Yeah, and at the price charged in 1976!***

I already miss Peppino’s (Where Knickerbocker’s moved into ). My last duty stations in the navy were Sicily and Japan. When you live on the opposite side of the planet, college football happens in a different local time frame.

Living in Japan my youngest daughter would get up at like 3 o’clock Sunday morning, we’d make loaded omelettes and listen to the radio broadcast of the Tiger game streamed on the internet. She was in the 4th / 5th / 6th grade at the time.

Pretty amazing that a little girl that age would be excited enough about Clemson football that she’d want to get up that early just to listen with her dad, but she always was.

When I retired from the canoe club and we came home to SC, the only thing she wanted to do was experience Death Valley in person. .....And we’d go.......lots !

But you can’t really tailgate the traditional way with alcohol when it’s just dad and young daughter. We’d go to Peppinos then shop our way toward the stadium. She’d get her face painted on College Avenue and get new Clemson gear every game. But Peppino’s kind of became a gameday family tradition for us

Good to see you again, ‘79.

Of all the great places in Clemson from the 70s and 80s

not still around, I miss Chanelo's the most. Went there a lot
when I was in HS in the late 70s and at Clemson in the early to
mid 80s. It was a great place to meet friends, get a sub, chat,
and hang out; part of our past, the good ole days.

The university didn't want on campus delivery and arrested the first guy on trespassing charges. They tipped off security so they could test it in court. A Judge ruled since the delivery guy was a student he couldn't be a trespasser. Charges dropped, let's order a pizza.
