who is in?

Nov 6, 2017, 7:24 PM

In no particular order

ACC champ
SEC champ
Big 12 Champ
Notre Dame

Seems to be the present thinking.

Still too much football to be sure, but I am convinced of the following:

PAC 12 is out and the b1g is almost out. There will be calls to expand to 8 teams if that happens.. These two conferences will demand it.

I believe that you need to have the five conference champs, two at large (which can be Notre Dame) and highest rank of the other 5. 8 teams, settling it on the field. Also make a rule that everyone must schedule one power 5 out of conference game and get rid of the AA match ups. Thoughts?

If they go to 8 teams (which I agree with), I think the season should be shortened by one game. Whether it's a conference championship or a "powder puff" game, I don't care. The season is getting too long, and injuries are increasing dramatically. Remember when the "season" was 10 games and then the bowl games? Of course, this'll never fly because the conferences would be giving up TV revenue.

Yes, many of the AA teams have to have these games to keep their programs afloat. I think going to 8 is too much. Powers that be should make it clear to ND, they need to be in a conference if they want to be part of the playoffs, or play a tougher schedule and finish undefeated. Should stop rewarding a program that isn't all in. IMO the ACC should have told ND from the start ALL sports or nothing. How long can they ride there past success ? The gipper died a long time ago.

If Notre Dame gets in without having to play a conference

SEC Champ - Alabama
ACC Champ - Clemson
Big 12 Champ - Oklahoma
SEC runner up - Georgia

Watch for ND to fall to 4th and Clemson move up to 3rd. This sets it up for the committee to drop ND out when Oklahoma wins.
