JC Chalk might be that guy. Not 100% like HR was but the 3rd down stuff. They used him on 3rd down yesterday on a catch that looked very Renfrow like plus he has the size to get a few yac.

Amari isn't far away from doing that.

I’ve said this after the first game when GT played us cover 2 that the slot is there but Overton is either not running crisp routes or is getting knocked of his routes. Amari is really our only go to slot receiver but other teams know that and are putting a bigger guy on him to bump him off the slant. Expect us to see cover 2 the rest of the year until we find a way to get the ball to our receivers in the 10-15 yard slant area!

I love Amari . . .

but he is light years away from working the slot like Hunter . . .
Grisham was really good . . . Humphries was even better . . . Renfrow was a STUD at finding, sitting and rotating in the crease . . .
Several receivers have the hand eye coordination equal to Hunter . . . but few are willing to lay out and sacrifice themselves to make the catches Hunter made . . .
Amari presently is our best option in the slot . . . Overton, to me, lacks the "quick twitch" change of direction, that creates the immediate separation, essential for a slot receiver's success . . .
I fully expect Amari to settle into the slot role and excel before year's end!!!
(Keep an eye on Brannon Spector . . . He may very well be our slot man of the future!)

Yep - Hunter was special ... Think he did so much just instinctively - probably helped by studying film of the opponent . Plus - he was tough as nails !! -">

You are correct. Additionally, Renfrow’s short area quickness was off the charts. That is how he created separation on third down every time, even when the defense knew it was going to him. Amari has wheels but not even close to Hunter’s ability to separate in a small area. He was a huge zone or man-beater on 3rd down.
We are also missing a Leggett type TE man-beater. Try to cover Leggett with a backer or even safety and you were in trouble. The Braden Galloway suspension is really hurting this offense bc he was that guy.

yesterday. The most disconcerting thing to me was the near constant pressure that Trevor was under from the rush up the middle. Hope we get that solved during the bye week. That, and the %$#@! false starts!

If someone can step up at corner, maybe we can use DK done on offense in the slot.
