My brother-in-law finshed Clemson in the 60's has missed only three home games since then.
I ask him abuot the fight fight - he said that is the dumbest thing he's ever heard. He said it has always been 3 fights.
It doesn't even sound right

but the CORRECT phrasing is:
"Fight Tigers, Fight ######, Fight, Fight"
The three Fights at the end appeared about the same time the woo-hoo did.
and BTW, I know a bunch of people who still do it the CORRECT way.

Maybe so but he's been to a butt load of games and he said he remembers 3 fight so I don't know.
My first game was ND the mid night pep rally was a thing of beauty and I remember the 3 fight then and NO freakin WOO HOO

I'm not going to debate this further, but it all goes back to the ability to understand the military "cadence count" which is a four beat. Thats where the cheer comes from.

C-L-E-M in cadence count is the primary Clemson spirit cheer. It was originally a military marching Jody call, so-called because many such chants featured tales of Jody. As such, it timed out rhythmically to end on the right foot. Adjustments to the cheer in recent years (adding a third "fight") throw it off so that it would end on the left foot. Traditionalists in the Clemson Nation only do the original which is presented here:

I wish we actually said it at that pace. Most times its so rushed. I also wish we could come up with another chant. It gets a little old to use the same chant all day long.
