sec rankings next week thru espn colored glasses

Sep 13, 2015, 9:42 AM

2. alabama - The tide defeats a previous unbeaten Middle Tennessee team by 27. Unbelievable performance considering they really didn't want to be there and also coming off a perfect game the previous week. Not quite enough to overtake ohio state but they certainly close the gap in the polls.

6. auburn - Who cares that they barely escaped a jacksonville st team at home? Similarly ranked michigan st and oregon struggled with their opponents as well. Auburn proved that you never count out an sec team in the 4th qtr. That is when their overwhelming physical dominance and speed take over. Ok, they didn't play well. They drop one or two spots in the poll but are definitely a top 10 team until beaten by a worthy sec team.

10. georgia - Some may question a team that benches their starting qb and struggles offensively against a team that lost to western kentucky the previous week. Are you kidding? No team, and I mean no team, goes into Nashville and gets an easy win. That place is a meat grinder. They certainly maintain a top 10 ranking and possibly move ahead of auburn. They do have Nick Chubb.

14. lsu - This team is destined for the top 10 - and soon. They went on the road and defeated a ranked sec juggernaut. Nothing else needs to be said. Paul Johnson is sighing and scratching his head.

16. texas a&m - They put 56 points on the scoreboard. 56 points! It was against ball st? They are one of the teams on the rise in the polls this week for sure.

17. ole miss - They put up 73 points against a team that used to have a good defense. Their new qb is soon going to be a Heisman contender and that hugh freeze is a football genius. They will compete with a&m on who jumps the most in the rankings.

18. arkansas - Again, they didn't care much about playing lowly toledo. They have to play 8 consecutive games against ranked sec teams (gasp)! Can't drop them out of the polls completely until they lose a few consecutive games to those ranked (or formerly ranked) sec foes.

21. missouri - They stay in about the same location in the polls due to their 2nd half comeback on the road - against arkansas st. The second half is where the sec shows their physical dominance.

23. tennessee - The vols started off like gangbusters against a higher ranked opponent, so they should still be ranked. So what that they were dominated in the second half. This doesn't count against the sec due to the number of young players tenn plays. When they grow up, this team will be incredible. oklahoma better enjoy their win cause they would not want to come back when these kids grow up - either later this season, maybe next year, but you know rocky top will be back.

25. miss st - They made an incredible comeback against a soon to be top 10 sec powerhouse. If they had played any of the non-conference teams on their schedule, they would have won easily. Hey, they did beat lsu last year too. Who will you rank if you drop them?

Contenders:
Kentucky won their first conference road game since 2009 in columbia, sc. They are undefeated and should get considerable support to move into the top 25.

Also, Florida gutted out a 7 point win against ecu and are undefeated. They have a new coach too!

Funny and so true. They also use the injury excuse, while failing to mention the other teams injuries.
