NK has been threatening us daily for months and supposedly has nuke warheads now which seems why he is so bold. It got so bad that the UN was even unamimous in sanctions. But everything is hunky dory in the eyes of the US public.
Trump issues one threat and it's WW3?
Again, what am I missing?

They know that using their WOMD would lead to obliteration. It would be a suicidal decision to make. Trump is backing NK into a corner where it may just strike. Trump escalated a situation unnecessarily. At least that's how I see it.

Where's the fire and fury? Seems like he drew a line, they crossed it, and then nothing. I guess he's weak.
The problem with his comment is that it craps all over what Tillerson, Haley, and others have done and said. It craps all over the UN sanctions that were just passed and our allies. This is just another case of the administration doing something good only to have Trump dump all over it. It's problematic because whenever the administration starts to get on message Trump goes off in some other direction impulsively. It's like every time this adminstration get the sails hoisted and starts making some forward progress Trump goes below deck and starts busting holes in the hull with a sledge hammer.

Second, U.S.President's generally don't threaten nuclear war.
It unsettles the public and accomplishes nothing positive.
There is no real threat to the U.S. or it's allies from North Korea.
Even in the highly unlikely event that NK attempted to launch a weapon, Kim Jung Un's facilities and likely himself and his military high command would be annihilated.
But rattling his saber, Trump is just playing into Un's hands.
The best way to handle a whining child (Un), is to ignore it.
