if it happens, does Oct 10 start hurt or help BIG

if they start so late, they will likely have to play 10 straight games with no bye week to have a championship game and still meet current playoff selection deadline 12/20. If they start 10/10, 10 games would put them finishing at 12/12 with championship 12/19. This gives them no leeway to reschedule games if necessary. Even if they push back the playoff selection a week to give them a bye during the season, they would finish 12/26. Then if a team makes playoff, they would not have any break before the playoff game 1/1 and would have to play the very next week after the championship game. I do not think they will move the playoff games as there are a lot of moving parts involved with them being in neutral sites and host cities. So you either play 11 straight, (10 + championship game) and get a bye between championship game and playoff or get bye in season and have to play immediately after championship game. Only other scenarios would be 10 game season with no championship game or less than 10 games and a championship game.

Would this help or hurt a team like OSU to have to play an entire season and post season with likely 1 bye week at the most? Thats a potential 13 games with 1 bye week while other conferences have plenty of breaks built in.

The ACC would have 2 byes in season plus possibly a 3rd between season and championship game if game is 12/12. They would then have 3 weeks off before playoffs start. If ACCCG is 12/5 ACC would have 4 weeks off before playoffs but no 3rd in season bye.

I don't think it matters much. As long as they have one bye week between all those games, they should be ok.

Small disadvantage - more cold weather games, flu season &_

somewhat shorter fall camp.

Less time to heal chronic type injuries before CFB playoffs and NFL combine preparation. Players will be moderately more “beat up”. For NFL prospects, the disadvantage may be higher. Most prospects do pretty extensive physical and mental preparation for combine .... for example a number come down to Bradenton FL to IMG to get primed for the combine.

Hard to predict how significant. Remember Bama got several defenders healthy in ‘17 between end of season before facing Clemson in playoffs.
