respected credit modelers in the country.

He sent out a company wide memo yesterday saying he see's from the bond market, a recession coming the latter part of the year and the company needs to be prepared.

Take it for what its worth. Wouldn't surprise me

I think we are on the rim of a sharp downturn

Mar 3, 2020, 10:52 AM

in the economy. The feds and automatic algorithms can only do so much. The problem is, we are using our cushion at the bottom of the drop now to try to stave off the fall. So when it does happen, it will be bad.

I saw a chart the other night that was showing the bubbles in the last 20 years of the markets and the one they were showing was the largest, even larger than the 2008 housing bubble.

I've been trying to find it for two days.

Market lost 50% on toxic US mortgage debt alone

Mar 3, 2020, 11:38 AM

in 2009. Just from a few trillion in bad mortgages. A slew of Enron accounting moves, and that was erased.

You can't erase China going offline, world trade collapsing, or people being out of work here. Debt problems are a back-end issue that can be mitigated. Illness (people not working) is a front-end immediate problem that can't be juggled, or losses from that farmed off to shell companies set up by the federal reserve. Most of the housing crisis was based on fear. It was debt, not earning capacity that was the problem. Debt can be handled. Lost labor/trade/production can't be addressed by accounting maneuvers.

This is a different animal.

i have been seeing some shrinking in the mfg sector

Mar 3, 2020, 10:55 AM

I see the use of temps as a short term predictor of mfg output.

At the beginning of Trumps presidency, temp worker numbers were out of the roof. Since around October 2019 those numbers have been through the floor.

It’s time for a good recession...unfortunately the fed doesn’t have any bullets left in the gun. I hate all this tinkering just to keep the market propped up. Time to take our medicine.
