This was probably the best team Brian Kelly is ever going to have in South Bend and it was not enough. They are just not ready for the Big Leagues yet.

I would rather have Cincy and Memphis bringing an SEC and Big 10 state into the TV fold. Ohio and Memphis good football recruiting areas too.

If life can return to so called "normal" and Irish fans had an extra game to pull for their beloved Irish in much warmer Charlotte, NC I could see them going for it. I could imagine DT Charlotte being packed with Irish fans leading up to the game!
You are probably right though TBH! They didn't get that taste of how exciting that is as a fan base(in large part) so you can't miss what you never had!

I'm not so sure. I think it has opened the eyes of some of having goals (championships) other than the National Championship available to them. They saw the excitement and buildup of a conference championship and the value in being part of all of that with a chance to win it. While it may not be enough to overcome their pride and arrogance I think it planted a seed in the back of their mind. They would actually fit better geographically in the BIG but at least I think some of them see a conference membership has value. It will be interesting to see over the next few years.

Heard Kelly say the other day that the ACC partnership has been good to them this year BUT being independent is their identity and who they are. They love their national schedule.
