The love from ESPN also seems highly correlated to this list of all-time wins. ESPN luvs them some Blue Bloods.

"Anybody that says Coach Brownell is the best coach to come through Clemson is going to start an argument." -JP Hall

it's always $$$, everything is about the $$$

doesn't make it right...

“poor kids are just as bright and just as talented as white kids.”

It is information like this that motivates Dabo.

He loves the talk about "Little Ole Clemson". It just shows that how many fans a school has means nothing to how many titles they win. Clemson has a lot of donors that bring a lot on money to Clemson University. We also have a coaching staff and support staff that is unparalleled.

Clemson is the only school that has participated in each of the last five CFP's, and if we make it to the 2021 CFP, we will be the only school to be in six straight.

Notre Dame's last National Title in football was 1988. That is 32 years. Clemson has won two of the last four CFP Titles, and we will be in the fight again next year.

We are in the fight right now.***

Brad Brownell: Only Larry freaking Shyatt has a WORSE overall winning percentage among Clemson basketball coaches since 1975. Let that sink in. It's Larry Shyatt & then Brad Brownell.

And people can't understand why the ACC accepts TV deals

for less money than the SEC and Big Ten.

A large part of that is because John Swofford is a moron.***

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

Historical Greatness/Large Fan Base - But

Dec 14, 2020, 12:51 PM

The kids who are going to grow up watching the movie "Safety" to the kids who have seen Clemson win 2 of the last 4 Championships won't give a "flip" about that historical data!
Miami had an opportunity to catch up and become a blue blood as far as on field performance goes not fan base! Though their fan base was pretty significant(band wagons) at their height.
Clemson is in an established conference already. Has a good foundation and won a championship prior to the current brilliant coaching staff! Clemson has etched itself in the conversation as far as on field performance already. Will Clemson get the band wagon fans as well like Miami did? IDK; but people like winners!

I get why those schools get the love - as someone else said, "it doesn't make it right" how they slobber all over these schools teams even if they are rubbish.
If you go by historical data to determine it or fan base - then just shut every other school down! Have Michigan and Alabama go at it every year! We don't because they aren't the only ones that know how to play football at a high level. Which is what ESPN needs to always remember!

Maybe he is a moron, but he gets blamed for a lot of things

that aren't his fault - as will the new commissioner.

How does the ACC get ignored?

Dec 14, 2020, 12:58 PM

The ACC has been in every single college football playoff since it's inception.

The ACC gets numerous bids to the NCAA Tournament in basketball.

The ACC has a broadcasting agreement with ESPN, which means that virtually all ACC sports are available on television or on the internet, 24/7.

What am I missing?

"All those 'Fire Brownell' guys can kiss it." -Joseph Girard III

"Everybody needs to know that Coach Brownell is arguably the best coach to come through Clemson." -PJ Hall

did you miss the part that the post was made 8 years ago?

Dec 14, 2020, 1:12 PM

or was that just part of you plan to ignore by the c&p you did?

Biggest fanbases are just off alumni/being the only game in town in your state etc. It doesn't fully equate to TV draw. How many peak over the fence to look at Wisconsin vs. how many peak over the fence to look at Clemson.............?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I doubt much has changed in 8 years

Dec 15, 2020, 8:50 AM

Penn State and Michigan fan bases will dwindle over the coming decades as more people flee the rust belt and those that were born and raised in those states during the hey days of the auto and steel industries start dying off, and the ND fan base may finally decline as they get further and further from the glory days of the 40's, 60's and 70's, but i doubt much has happened over the previous 8 years.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

you missed a big part of what I'm saying- size of fanbase

Dec 17, 2020, 12:54 PM

is just based off populations/alumni- sure it's a factor in TV viewership but there is an equal component to TV viewership re: drawing non-fanbase viewers. Bama, OSU, Clemson - the top programs command that-- the Wisconsin's of the world, your current PSU, Michigans, USC's do not.....
