Burrow is a great QB

Jan 2, 2020, 11:31 AM

The 3rd best we will have played (Behind DJ on the scout team and Trevor, of course)

It should be a really fun game and I'm looking forward to the challenge for our defense.

Let's not get carried away here, Joe Burrow was

Jan 2, 2020, 11:35 AM

going to be Justin Fields' backup, who was Jake Fromm's backup. And Jake Fromm sucks out loud, so that makes Joe Burrow one of the worst QBs in all of college football.

I see what you mean. You're saying that Burrow is basically

the Tom Brady of college football. He is a superstar with the right system but in terms of raw talent...stick him on a different team and he is average, at best.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yes that's certainly part of it, but he also benefitted from

Jan 2, 2020, 11:42 AM

not having to play against a great defense all year. Burrow and Fields got to pad their stats by playing against crappy SEC and B1G defenses. Fields threw 1 INT all year, but against Clemson he threw 3 of them (1 got called back due to a penalty). Look at how good Tua was last year, and he threw 2 INTs when he finally played a great defense in the national championship game. Burrow, who wasn't even good enough to beat out Fields, will probably throw 4 INTs against us.

Dude, your team plays in the ACC yet LSU plays bad defenses? And, Burrow has as much "starting" experience as Lawrence yet has broken nearly every record including breaking Heisman records. The man has beaten 6 teams that were ranked in the top 10 when they played. It's understandable your passion for your team, But side by side comparisons of Burrow and Lawrence, Burrow is his daddy!!

Come back here next season

Jan 2, 2020, 1:42 PM

When Lawrence is playing for his 3rd title in 3 years. Burrow has had 1 good season as a college QB and he's been in college for 5 years. He's older than several QBs starting in the NFL right now.

No doubt burrow has had a great season but to insinuate that he is better than Lawrence is laughable. Yes, Burrow has better stat lines. Ask Tua how that worked out last season.

Re: Come back here next season

Jan 2, 2020, 2:06 PM

So Lawrence had two meh seasons by your comparison and by the way, it's 2 in 2 years. They both won state championships. Lawrence turned it on last year and has pretty much plateaued while Burrow has these "laughable stat lines". Might want to take a different angle because trying to compare the two is not working out for ya.

Lol coming back with stats

Jan 2, 2020, 2:11 PM

Like I said stats don't matter. Clemson has a much more balanced offense than LSU so Lawrence doesn't get the reps that Burrow does - Burrow has over 100 more pass attempts this season. I'll take the QB that has a proven track record of being elite year in and year out over the one who has had one good year of college play.

Stats don’t win championships just ask David klingler, Andre Ware and ty detmer how that worked out. Nice try though??????!

You do realize one of those "top 10" teams only beat UVA (the same UVA we beat by 45 points in the ACC Championship) by 8 points, right? And another one lost at home to a 4-8 SCarolina team that we beat by 35??

Joe was JT Barrett's backup, who as the starter he couldn't beat out, put up 0 points in a CFP game.

Re: Burrow is a great QB

I didn't realize thinking Tua is a better qb would get the homers so riled up. You guys are a sensitive bunch. It's not a stretch to say Tua is better than Lawrence just like it isn't a stretch to say Lawrence is better than Burrow. The are all great quarterbacks.

My ranking:

1. Burrow
2. Tua
3a. Lawrence
3b. Fields

Re: Burrow is a great QB

Jan 2, 2020, 11:47 AM

Lawrence has upped his standing IMHO simply because he can outrun an entire opposing defense. Throws a great ball and runs like a gazelle. Truly a dual threat qb.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Can't take you seriously

Jan 2, 2020, 11:50 AM [ in reply to Re: Burrow is a great QB ]

Lawrence is the best QB in CFB by a long shot. Including JF on your list is an absolute joke. Tua choked against the only good defense he has ever played and I expect Burrow to do the same.

ah, now I see where you’re coming from.

Jan 2, 2020, 11:57 AM [ in reply to Re: Burrow is a great QB ]

Tua played great against LSU, and everyone else, which affects how you view him, yet looked pedestrian against Clemson, which is how we view him.

Makes sense and I like how this is going corn doggie.

How is Tua ahead of Trevor? Last time I checked Tua seems to catch the injury bug a good bit. Also he was benched for Hurts. Has Trevor ever missed a game or been benched?

Jan 2, 2020, 12:13 PM [ in reply to Re: Burrow is a great QB ]

Calling us a Homer when he just put 2 SEC QB's 1 & 2 on his list! Tua is a rhythm passer and has very quick receivers that he can get the ball out to early. However his percentages drop a lot when he has to make a play outside the pocket. Same with Burrow, he has had great protection all year. but outside the pocket, although better than TUA his percentage drops a good bit. Trevor on the other hand...

Re: Burrow is a great QB

You haven't watched much LSU football. Most of Burrow's Heisman moments are of him outside the pocket. If you actually believe what you wrote, you're in for a rude awakening.
