About to buy F-150

Jan 5, 2021, 10:26 AM

Supercrew, 5.0, 2019 or 2020, 2WD, 18-25K miles, $32K.

Good choice?
Bad choice?
Shoulda ran ETN more?

Looking at two right meow, one of them in Greenr territory, the other just up the road in Greenville.

if you have kids, you should go with Ram. Largest cab and leg room in the class.

but you can be a sheep and get the F-150. Or be a man and get a 250 Super Duty and kind of chart your own course. :)

The Ram is a good price. But it is too wide for the garage

They are all close though, and all sufficient for carseats.

Ford total = 87.5
Ram total = 86.1

I don't care what they say, the back seat in a Ram is way bigger than an F150. See for yourself.

do your kids sit in front....not sure how old your kids are.

The back of a Ram is like a hotel room.

Jan 5, 2021, 1:33 PM

all are more than sufficient.

The RAM is 1.6 more inches back leg room than the F-150, and the F-150 is 3.9 inches more than my current ride. F-150 is 3 inches more front leg room than RAM.

I got the cargo bins over the wheel wells

Jan 5, 2021, 11:16 AM

So now my tools aren't laying in the back seat floorboard. I also got the tailgate that opens both ways since I am getting old and don't jump up as easily as I used to. I added a rear step just incase I don't want to open the tailgate too.

The 12" navigation screen is huge and you can split the screen and it is still big and I can start the truck with my phone and if its cold the heated seats and heated steering wheel heat up. Cameras everywhere very comfortable. We now take it on trips instead of wifeys car.

I've never been happier with a car or truck purchase, but it is also more than I have ever paid for a car or truck.

Jan 5, 2021, 1:44 PM

ClemsonZJ got me worried about the 5.0 oil issue.

Truck drove very well for a truck, getty up wasn't as gettyupish as I expected it to be. It must need to be in sport mode for all the gettyups which for some reason I did not try.

Did not buy. There is a better deal in GreenR land.

On the way home I drove under a flying turkey around MM 46 SB.

trucks were having the problem. I thought the 5.0 was faster by 1/10 of a second??

I want to say Obed® recommended the 5.0 for long term use, but yeah, most of that did not sound too good.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: I read a lot of it, but could not tell what percentage of

Jan 5, 2021, 3:02 PM

2018 3.5L Ecoboost (SCREW, 4x4) - 5.3 Seconds
2018 5.0L (SCREW, 4x4) - 5.9 Seconds

The Ecoboost feels much quicker too when you drive them. Especially when you go to pass someone. The 5.0L builds it's power way up in the rev range. The 3.5L pulls like a freight train because it has a torque advantage of 100-150 ft-lbs down lower in the rev range. That's why most EcoBoost trucks tow 2,000-3,000 more lbs than the 5.0 equivalent. 5.0 does sound better though.

which doesn't compare 2018 to 2018, but it has the 2018 5.0 at 5.7 seconds...Guess I should be looking at 2019 and 2020 anyways.
