Cohn and Trump

Jan 12, 2021, 8:07 PM

This is a long article, but if you have the time read it. Cohn had a huge influence on Trump. One of his core principles was never apologize and never concede. The parallels between the two are remarkable.

Roy Cohn was one of the worst humans to ever walk the earth.***

So is Trump. That's ironic.

That ended really well for Cohn.

Trump has always seemed destined for the same fate. He somehow doubled down all the way to the White House...but the problem with compulsively doubling down is, at some point you lose. And then you lose everything.

This was only ever going to end one way for Trump, and we're witnessing it with our own eyes.

Yep, Compulsive Gamblers

Jan 12, 2021, 8:28 PM

Always blow it at the end. (Titanic Thompson is one). Look at trumps career, and that’s the common theme. Whenever he gets ahead, he blows it. When he did well with Trump Tower, he blew it by buying all those casinos and went bankrupt. He then influenced and inherited from his father $400 million. Then he had the apprentice make him more money. He went on to buy multiple golf courses as a vanity project. Anyone with any sense knows that Golf is a declining industry. His tax returns revealed that he’s losing huge money with his golf courses. He came out on top from the Russian investigation, then he blows it by pushing too far with Ukraine.

He loses the election, but can’t accept it and ruins his political future.

In my opinion he really is a compulsive gambler, except his gambles are not at casinos. He started every business in the world, with most of them failing. I hate Trump as much as I can hate anyone, but I have to admit is a very interesting character.

There will be many movies and miniseries about him, probably for the next 50 years. Maybe longer than that.

Somewhere in He!!, Richard Nixon is smiling, because he knows he's not going to be the most vilified president in American history anymore. That position just got taken over.

I remember watching Bob Dole belatedly show the nation he had a sense of humor after losing his own election - he was known informally as "Dole of the Dead" before that - telling this entertaining story about how he was in the same room with Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, and Richard Nixon, and it occurred to him that he was in the same room as See No Evil, Hear No Evil, and...Evil.

I can only imagine what stories will come out of this administration. A lot, I suspect.

One thing that all former presidents have in

Jan 12, 2021, 8:51 PM

common is that they love how Trump has made their presidency look so much better.

I bet Jimmy Carter is thinking...

"Think they've forgotten completely about stagflation yet?"

Who would want to play Trump other than Alec Baldwin?

Jan 12, 2021, 8:52 PM [ in reply to Re: Yep, Compulsive Gamblers ]

seems just that role would be Toxic, and could end an actor's career. I nominate Vince Vaughn.

I vote for Sean Penn. Seems right down his alley

I'll give you a point, but Penn is way too small to pull that one off. The production designers would have to build scaled-down versions of all of the sets just to make the scale believable.

Fair point. Will Ferrell may work.

come on man,

Jan 13, 2021, 6:23 AM

who would want to ruin his career?, he is hilarious.

we could also hit Jason Gordin Levvit on the side of the head with a hot frying pan and he can play Cohn.

Brendan Gleason
