I remember being in elementary school and this song hit me right in the feels. I was just learning about rap music then.

in to the rap game later on.
I was in like 7th grade or so. I'd have to buy/steel the cds from the mall and hide them in a starter jacket so my parents wouldn't find the "parental advisory" sticker and freak out.
Funny random-ish story about Chronic 2001 (that only you will probably think is funny).
While at Clemson, our mutual friend had moved on to Seminary, but his girlfriend (wife now) and I were neighbors in UV. I promised to keep an eye out for her on his behalf. One night my brother and I went over there and got absolutely blasted drunk with her and one of her roomates. We went through her cd collection and found out that she had a ghetto streak. We played Chronic 2001 on full blast like two times through, cover to cover. Including the "pause for porno" interlude. Ol' girl knew every word - definitely earned boucoup cool-points in my book. Then my brother banged her roommate and I was a gentleman and went home alone.

I didn't want to cheat on my girlfriend (SarahAdidas), but more importantly, I wasn't going to stick it to my best friend's girlfriend.

Remaining friends with my best friend was more important. She later claimed she was drunk. Never saw her drink a drop that night.

makes sense. the cover with him covered in blood was pretty offputting.
I mean, who wouldn't want to see this in their middle school son's cd binder???
Plus the 2nd track on that song starts off pretty rough...
I got blood on my hands and there's no remorse And got blood on my #### 'cause I ###### a corpse (C'mon!) I'm a nasty #####, when you pass me ##### look me in my eyes (What!) Tell me to my ######' face that you ready to die (C'mon!) You be a dead ############, red ############ Don't get stupid, you heard what I said ############ Who shot you? Aww #####, like you don't know (Woo!) Stickin' you for yo' dough while I'm ######' yo' broke ho (What!) Yo! Don't you get the picture? ###### can't touch me (Uh!) 'Cause I don't give a #### G, I'll get you touched B I got joints that with one slug could take apart a door And enough crazy ###### behind me to start a war (C'mon!) So what you want #####? Help, 'cause you'se about to rest (Uh!) When I'm fed, Red Cross couldn't clean up the mess And a vest will do nuttin' but make you look a little thicker (Yea!) 'Cause in the dark, you ain't nuttin' but a lil' ##### (What!) And if you'd been thinkin' about that #### you did You wouldn'ta brought the joint, wit you kid Now I'ma have to get you kid, and split your wig, wit the machete (What!) had some albums from those three, 'bout it. "Apache" and "Renegades of Funk"....have those ever been topped? I still hear those played today.
But that genre lost me about 1986, became unoriginal and repetitive, so I moved on.
I liked Run-DMC initially because they were as much heavy metal as rap. "Rock Box" as illustration....
