Need proof the shut down was a waste

Jun 20, 2020, 10:53 AM

Waste of money and time and ruined thousands of people’s lives and crushed the American dream as we know it. Look at CU football. These guys are getting it spreading it and most of all RECOVERING WELL from it. 10 days later they are fine and go back to work. Herd immunity or whatever you want to call it is the only way to fight this thing without a vaccine. Shame on the govment for playing politics through this thing. The US has dug a hole it will take years to recover from while destroying people’s dreams and businesses whom may never fully recover.

The shutdown was a global effort put on by anti-capitalists. When that failed they encouraged ANTIFA to burn down the businesses.

The solution to destroying the communist revolution is to legalize drugs. I have no doubt most of them will die of drug overdose when they find out they can each import their own kilo of cocaine and pound of heroin. Cops can arrest the rest of them for rape and robbery.

The key word in your statement is "most" all are recovering well.

Yeah, sure . . .

A bunch of young, healthy athletes with top-flight immune systems recovered, ergo, the shutdown was a complete waste. Sure thing there, bud.

Look, the shutdown was overdone, over-sold, too severe, too broad, and too strict. It should have been more limited and targeted according to hot-spots, situational needs, and at-risk groups, but that said, the germ theory of disease itself prevents any logical conclusion that it accomplished nothing. Exposure leads to spread. Cutting down on exposure reduces it - this much is beyond debate. You don't reach herd immunity wisely or safely by simply letting it run rampant and killing many fast, so that herd immunity will set in sooner. It's not like reaching heard immunity is the sole goal. There's also the goal of avoiding large scale death - to the extent avoidable, as well as avoiding health system overwhelm in the places where it's a risk.

Yes, it was all overdone, and unnecessary damage was done to people financially. But it can't be said to have been a total waste. It's part of the reason why things aren't worse now than they are.

The shutdown was not a waste ... it just did not last long enough. If you like the idea of 2020 games in Death Valley with no fans, send the Governor a thank you note.

I don't disagree

But, why has the U.S. been seemingly hit so much harder than other countries? I'm sure there may be a few outliers... but, in general.

So what would another month would have done in your opinion? Do you think if we shutdown for 30 more days covid would have magically disappeared? Or would it have just spread again like it is now....just 30 days later? Think man. Yes we flatten the curve but it was only temporary.

A little over done. The virus has been around a lot longer too. Remember the mysterious vaping deaths?

Just to be clear: NO matter what a person says in trying to make the pandemic a political issue, it is wrong to hope he gets sick and dies.
