IMO, that’s who I would go after. Would be a HR hire.

Would instantly get respect from boosters, parents, kids, coaches

He has been to the dance two times in 12 years at schools where success is easier than Clemson so how the heck would he be a HR hire? At Stanford they fired him and nicknamed him NIT Johnny

I don't think he would go where he would regularly

I understand your point, my only thought was:

A- he’ll have espns acc network to sale to kids/parents

B - he could sale being in the acc

C - he’s a more known commodity on the east coast

D - he’s smart enough to learn what he could improve on

E - he only has to play duke once a yr and could view that as his tryout in front of them

Clemson is not likely to hire a D1 coach away from

another program because more than likely that coach would consider Clemson a lateral move. With that in mind, who would you go after?

Dawkins might not have been successful at Stanford, but why he was not successful would be worth looking into given the job he has done with UCF and the kind of players that initially he would have to work with at Clemson... I was at the game in Cooterville and they had the opportunity to win and should have won that game against Duke. But what impressed me the most was his end of the game coaching that kept those guys level headed, engaged and believing that they could win. Also, I would think that his ACC roots would open the eyes of some players of the type that we could have used but missed on in recent years...

is something we don’t do when it comes to basketball. Funding the basketball program so pathetically over the years has created that perception.

Clemson shouldn’t be viewed as a lateral move. We must change that.

Coach K’s successor in my opinion and probably would not want to regularly coach against him.
