What does everyone think of the fireworks?

Sep 12, 2013, 11:22 PM

I'm not a big fan of them. At night they're pretty good, but during the daytime, you can't see them. They also make a LOT of smoke, which lingers literally until the end of the commercial break.

Personally, I would rather just have just big booms, and not all the colors and sparks. Maybe shot something with 6 loud booms for a TD, 3 for a field goal, and 1 for an extra point and 2 for a safety.

Sep 12, 2013, 11:23 PM

does seem to be a lot of smoke for the amount of fireworks

badge-donor-05yr.jpgringofhonor-74tiger.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Just some loud reports would be fine. Less smoke too.

Sep 12, 2013, 11:24 PM

Or maybe just leave the pretty colors and sparks for night games.

Had to put up the Allstate nets to pay for the fireworks.

Sep 12, 2013, 11:32 PM [ in reply to Re: What does everyone think of the fireworks? ]

I just think it is a waste of money, we don't need fireworks to make Death Valley look good and I would rather celebrate a score with Tiger Band and C-L-E-M-S-O-N than the boom of fireworks. JMO

It seems kind of silly during day games. Maybe they could fire six of those mortar shell type fireworks for a touchdown and three for a field goal. Then the explosions would be higher up and there probably wouldn't be as much smoke.

The only time I really feel wierd about it

Sep 12, 2013, 11:33 PM

is when we score on teams like SCST while were already up by 30+

I also feel like its a bit much for when we kick a FG

They are awesome.

I hope they never go away and we see them a lot.

Don't mess with the fireworks...they are tradition now and

etched into the Clemson lore for all eternity. Same with the new mascot. To do away with him now would be blasphemy to all that is Clemson. The net should remain as well. It is now tradition and is the embodiment of Clemson University...

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

How are the Allstate nets and fireworks a Clemson....

Sep 12, 2013, 11:48 PM

tradition? Many other schools shot off fireworks before us and we were one of the last major programs to add the nets. Those aren't Clemson traditions and they for d@mn sure aren't Clemson lore. The Hill, the cannon, Rally Cats, Tiger Rag, etc., that's tradition. The nets have a corporate logo on them for goodness sake, not one thing related to Clemson.

Just made it seem like a bigger event

as the players are finishing the run down the hill. Looked awesome on the ABC coverage.

It's a nice touch, and my kids absolutely love them. They talk about the fireworks for DAYS.

A little to "Mardi Gras" for me.***

I am OK with whatever they want to do as long as they're scoring points and not breaking out the fire extinguishers.

6 for a TD, 3 for a field goal, and 1 for an extra point and 2 for a safety

Where on earth did you come up with those numbers?

To be honest .. I don't even notice them. Too busy high

Re: What does everyone think of the fireworks?

Sep 13, 2013, 8:54 AM

I like them, especially at night and the fact they are orange and purple. But sitting anywhere near the west side of the stadium during SC State game the wind was blowing in from the west and rained down ash all over us. I kept reaching up and being like, "When did I go to the beach and get sand in my hair?". Then it dawned on me when I took a sip of my coke and realized the "sand" was in there too. More fireworks= more points for my Tigers!!! And I hope there is a lot more ash in my future!!! GO TIGERS!!!

Contrived and amateurish

The cannon, the fans, the players, the band. Excitement.

There is no reason to add excitement artificially to an event that is spontaneously and truly exciting.

Personally, I love them. The beginning of the UGA game, with the players coming down the hill and then those going off on the other side - I thought the entrance was amazing. Seriously.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It would be REALLY COOL if they could make the fireworks
