I suspect Cornell Powell wore that shirt without thinking of the ramifications. And I suspect it will all blow over. But...

If you were considering transferring, you would want some reason for the NCAA to allow you to play without sitting a year. So, you wear an opposing team's shirt, prominently, in the student section of a home game. This causes some people to call for your head. You can then enter the portal and claim a concern for your safety on campus. That would be pretty Machiavellian.

Again, I don't think this is what happened, but it occurred to me.
