Warped Logic

Jan 1, 2021, 11:54 AM

On many occasions we have heard and/or read that our Tigers have an easy schedule because most teams in the ACC suck. Gamecock fans have been the chief offenders for many years, but the Buckeyes have now joined in the chorus. Having defeated the Buckeyes all four times we have played them and their being the cream of the BIG10,11, 12, 13, 14 (or whatever the number may be) we can logically conclude that the other teams in their conference must suck even moreso than those teams in the ACC.

In yesterday's issue of the SENECA JOURNAL, there were a couple of sections recapping the Tigers 2020 regular season games plus the conference championship game. The lead-in to the Georgia Tech game was, "Clemson Clobbers Yellow Jackets in Atlanta". I've used "clobbers" many times in a conversation and I suspect many of you are familiar with the word and used it in conversations, but this is the first time I recall reading it in a printed article. Clemson's 77 - 7 rout of Georgia Tech was, indeed, a "clobbering".

"When I was young, I was sure of many things; now there are only two things of which I am sure: one is, that I am a miserable sinner; and the other, that Christ is an all-sufficient Saviour. He is well-taught who learns these two lessons." -John Newton
