Wanting to go on a cruize this winter

Jun 22, 2018, 4:51 PM

Any suggestions. I've only been once on a Carnival and was curious about everyone's opinions on other companies.

Why do dogs always race to the door when the doorbell rings? It's almost never for them.

I really don't know if its true but I have heard from a pretty reliable source that LBB and one of his girlfriends are pole dancers on Atlantis. Not sure if its Girlfriend #1, 2, 3, or 4.

Do you want a 3 star cruise or 4?Are their bluechip cruises?

Jun 22, 2018, 5:05 PM

Could you take a 2 star "cruise" and develop it into a 5 star?

I'll hang up and listen...

I've cruised Carnival, Disney, Royal Caribbean, and Norwegian. It depends on what you want to get out of a cruise. If you're taking family/kids, price is no objective, and you don't plan to spend time in the ship casino or drink heavily, then Disney is your answer by far. If price is a consideration and you don't mind hanging out with a few drunk fatties with tats smoking cigarettes, Carnival or Royal Caribbean are good alternatives. Not much difference between Carnival and Royal Caribbean. 7-night cruises generally have families. If you're looking for party time, then 3-4 night Carnival or Royal Caribbean may be your answer. Still don't know what Norwegian offers that's better than the others. Look at itineraries and don't be afraid to drive a little further if you can get on a boat headed to a better destination. Bigger isn't always better, especially if you have 3000+ people standing in line to take tender boats at a destination without a pier. Excursions are going to cost 50% more through the cruiselines. Don't be afraid to freelance it at a port or pre-book excursions through a 3rd party, but you will hate life if you miss getting back on the boat before it leaves - so be aware of the time and remember to turn off the auto-time feature on your phone so it'll stay on ship time if you travel to a different time zone.

Thanks man, always nice to have a real answer.

Agree with this. I’ve cruised most of the lines and

all were great but in their own way. My favorite line is Princess (great food, quiet, laid back) but that’s probably because I’m getting older and don’t run around like a drunk college kid anymore. The best balance of nice and fun, for me, has been Royal Caribbean (good food and lots of activity). I generally scuba dive at all the stops so I don’t do many regular excursions but over the years we’ve done plenty. If you have any specific questions about “cruising”, holler.

Really Depends upon the type of people you want to be around

Jun 22, 2018, 6:06 PM

I used to like cruises - did a dozen or so in the Caribbean. The last two (Royal Caribbean and a Princess) were pretty bad. Members of our group got stomach ailments on both. Even if you pay top $ a lot of cruises are selling the leftovers locally for dirt cheap. I definitely wouldn't do a big ship. They may have an ice rink but you have to pay to use it and there are lines everywhere and you can imagine how good the foot is when the meal is for thousands of people. Also, the ports are all the same - a few hours, maybe an expensive tour or shopping for trinkets made in China.

Personally I would either take a small boat on the expensive side or if you want the carefree experience instead do an all-inclusive in the Bahamas, Jamaica or somewhere else.

Out of Chucktown, the old Fantasy was a good basic cruise. Take the old lady up to the Topless deck and let her LIVE a little...

Be sure to compare the cruse schedule to when school is out for Christmas. Some will take their kids during this time. Before or after break, you'll have mostly adults. We did a Royal Carribean New England 7 day back in September 2016 and there were less than 100 kids age 17 and younger on board. Good boat, held around 2200 people.

Did an inside Alaska passage back in 2003 Royal Carr. Good cruise, good crew.

Did Carnival Fantasy in May 1998. I won the Elvis competition at the deck party using a Miller bottle as a mic......did I repeat that?????? Supposedly "chaperoning" some friends celebrating their Class of 1973 Reunion....

I have been on one cruise, Sevenday Royal Carribean cruise and hated it. The food was only OK. I didn’t like the lines for the shuttle boats, so we packed up, left the ship, stayed on an island the rest of the trip and flew back. I doubt i will ever do another one unless it’s a smaller ship high end luxury cruise.
