Update on FSU football search.

First, and most important, it has gotten very quiet. Hard to find much new on the net - except people like the NFL Newtork throwing out wild stories trying to get you to believe that Deion is a serious candidate for the HC job. He's not. Cute little story to read, but nothing more than that.
The reason it has gotten very quiet is because it appears Coburn has gotten the message, "Shut up! Just shut up!"
Now, with that said, these are the rumors/speculations that seem to have at least some credibility. (I have no prediction or speculation as to how this is all gonna end up.)
1. Bob Stoops is still a serious candidate. He wants 40M for 5 years. Negotiations are on-going. 2. Plan B is Mike Norvell. 3. Plan B is Mark Stoops. 4. Plan B is Matt Campbell.
I list those in no particular order. I don't know if some of them are true, if all are true, or all are false. But, I think the odds are better than 50/50 that one of those 4 will be the next coach.

Never thought that Deion was a serious candidate. At this point, I tend to believe no news on Bob Stoops is bad news. If they haven’t worked out a deal yet, my money would be on they don’t get one worked out.
I also read that Campbell’s buyout is like $15-17m which I would think would eliminate him from consideration after tapping out several boosters to come up with Willie’s buyout.
As a Clemson fan, I am less scared of Mark Stoops than Norvell. I think Stoops would do a good job but don’t see him getting you back to national prominence. Not saying it would happen under Norvell, but his ceiling is hire if all goes right.

Shouldn’t an athletic director know to shut up?

And this couldn’t happen to a finer group. I hope your program remains a dumpster fire for years to come.

He’s NOT an Athletic Director, he’s a politician playing at being an Athletic Director. The one defining trait that all politicians share? They’re not good at shutting up.
Isn’t it interesting that FSU’s freefall into the pit of misery, perfectly coincides with their University putting a politician in charge? Unfortunate coincidence or what did they expect?

If I'm an FSU fan I'm scared to death. The 'Noles can't make a mistake this time.
Look no further than Miami to see how bad things can get. Thanks for the update and good luck with it.

Going out on a limb
I suggest you find a former real estate salesman that has some WR coaching experience

On behalf of Clemson's strength of schedule, please find a pulse for your team. You have the talent but, have lacked the correct guy under the headsets. I am curious to see how the team responds to the interim coach. A win over Florida would be great!

You best hook up with a coach who is big on discipline. That is something FSU has lacked for years. These trash talking guys who have made up Seminole teams for years have given your program a bad name. If you can’t get the job done on the playing field, keep your big mouth shut. Do your fighting between the lines not at each other. Discipline!!!

Yes - thanks for the update - bret ... FSU has a ton of talent ... not sure why it doesn’t show up more in the games ?? Maybe just a coaching problem ?

You’re the only other school in the conference who takes football as seriously as we do.

I’m pulling for bob stoops. It’d be nice to get a few more big names in the ACC. If think he will do well short term. Then have a coach in waiting and make a smooth transition in 5 years

IMHO, NONE of those listed Plan B's would be a great hire.

And that being said, a lot of your fanbase would probably be against them from the get go. For your sake, you better hope you can snag Bob Stoops if that is in fact the list you get to choose from.

Bob Stoops is your guy if he truly has the energy for the position. No brainer.
He is organized, would bring discipline and recruiting would go next level.
This would (eventually) put a highly ranked team on our schedule every year.
