Two Things to watch with Notre Dame vs Bama

Dec 20, 2020, 10:13 PM

1) Notre Dame O-Line vs. Bama Defense Matchup: It will be interesting to watch this experienced and strong group of Notre Dame wrestlers hold the Bama D-Line and blitzers. How long will Saban allow it to happen? One set of downs? Or will he speak to the head referee before the game to facilitate the 1st holding call on the 1st or 2nd play of the game? Still Notre Dame's line will be a little nervous and fired up, and will get in their share of hard hits and cheap shots on the Tide.

2) Nick is not known to hold down the score. Will he continue to bludgeon Book all through the game with blitzes? And will Najee Harris play 4 qtrs, and will Bama's star receivers run long routes with mad bomber Mac Brown winging it all through the 4th qtr? When does Nick call off the Tide?

This will be a fun one to watch -- whether Bama walks the dog or whether Notre Dame keeps it close and makes Nick sweat a little bit. (Remember ND has played Clemson twice this season. They should be battle tested against top level competition unless BV has rattled Book's confidence.)

ND is going to beat Bama.

Bama's defense is porous.

Florida was scoring at will last night. Ole Miss put up a ton of yardage too. Probably others throughout the season.

If the Irish can come up with a game plan that uses all four downs and limits Bama's possessions, they will beat them.

ND is the more physical team.

Book isn’t a pocket passer. BV kept him in the pocket, I would like to see ND keep players on the field so the defense can’t sub, they have plenty of guys that can play TE/RB and split out. Also for some reason they don’t use their speed players enough ie. slants, jail breaking screens.....On D they have no answer for Bamas or Clemson talent at WR

I have a sneaking suspicion this game will be closer than expected.

Bama just lost their center vs UF. Bama’s DB’s are not great. Mac Jones not as mobile as our QB’s. If ND can win up front and keep Bama’s wideouts it could be interesting.

First team to 45 wins.
