Top 10 (5) ACC Match-ups All-time

I was somewhat surprised to learn that Saturday's ACC Championship Game is the 19th top ten (7th top five!) conference game in ACC football history. How many of the previous top fives/tens do you think Clemson was involved in?

Clemson top five ACC games: 4 of the 7 (2 vs. ND this year, 1 each vs. Louisville, Florida State).

Clemson top ten ACC games: 6 more (2 vs. Miami, 2 vs. UNC, 2 vs. FSU), for a total of 10 out of 19 - just over half.

Other ACC teams who have figured prominently in the top 10 match-ups:
BC: 1
Clemson: 10
FSU: 9
GT: 1
Louisville: 2
Miami: 6
ND: 2 (both this year)
UNC: 3
UVA: 1
VT: 3

This blog is about ACC Football - past glory, what went wrong, and how to fix it and get back to the glory days again.


Yes, about half of these games are since 2011, but (1) it shows that ACC football is better than people in general give credit, and (2) the quality at the top has trended upward since the old Big East teams were added.

Thoughts?
