I met Kirk Herbstreit in Santa Clara, day before the championship

He was humble and gracious. We were in mixed company, and I was the one standing out like a sore thumb (Clemson colors).
He didn’t need to acknowledge my existence, but he did and he was super nice.
Some of you are better than the way you act on here.
Would you say to his face what you say on here?

Some people are driven mostly by logic and reason. Some mostly by emotion and feelings. The mix and interplay of these two is what makes us human, made in the image of God. What’s good is to have a balance. To be too logical can make one cold. To be too emotional can make one a blubbering mess.
Don’t lose your heart, but for Pete’s sake, don’t lose your mind.

A lot of negativity directed at him last couple days and for what?
And these same people slandering his name wouldn’t have the courage to look him in the eye and say it to his face.
That would take conviction and courage, which unfortunately not enough people have these days.

I’d really like to know, and I would think he would appreciate me asking.

Guys like Herbie make up most of whites in America right now. Good, respectful and undoubtedly non prejudice towards any race or color. Sad part is.....he’s gotta do what he’s gotta do to get by until the dust settles and issues get resolved. I do believe his emotions were legitimate and real, because there are some deep rooted issues in this country.....but to say that racism is off the charts in this nation is completely false.

Right. Which is why the whole thing is largely a false narrative.

And many white people are tired of being lectured to simply because of the color of skin we were born with. That’s as racist as anything out there.

Trusted us with his family. Is there any bigger commitment than entrusting one’s children to an organization (Clemson) to continue to raise, develop, and turn into productive adults and citizens.
Herbstreit is a Tiger now.

I've always liked Herbstreit, even when he says things I don't necessarily like. Like after the 2008 bama game, when he said bama came to a fist fight, Clemson came to a school dance. I didn't like what he said, but I couldn't really disagree.
Corso and Reese Davis, another story. Even though I don't know anything about either of them, away from the camera, they seem kind of two faced and sneaky. Just my feelings. Fowler's ok. He gave us pretty good press after The Tigers first Gameday.

Fowler makes a point to deliberately mispronounce Clemson with a z. He’s kind of a tool that way towards us. He knows how to pronounce it correctly.

You know, I never really paid any attention to the way people pronounced Clemson, until once when I was in service, I met a young lady from Maryland. She was like most waves, as they used to be called in the Navy, great body, not so much to look at. But being a typical squid, that didn't make a whole lot of difference to me. After a while the conversation somehow turned to college football, where she told me how much she loved the Terps. She then said; let me guess, you're a Clemp-suuun Tiger fan. I took another look at her and decided, no matter how desperate the situation, she definitely ain't worth it. Since then, though it doesn't really bother me a lot, I always listen to the way non Tigers pronounce Clemson, and think about that wave.

my only criticism of Herbstreit...

is being a Big 10 homer. As a human being, that seems like an excusable "flaw."
I don't like the politics of ESPN, but Kirk's bashing is not merited. He wasn't making a political statement. He was appealing to compassion. I appreciate his transparency and sincerity.

but let’s extend your question to the athletes who are so “woke” when it comes to racism.
Do you think they would make some of the statements they’ve made online about how awful police officers are to a police officer’s face?
Do you think they would talk about how oppressed they are to their coaches, as well as the fans who support them and help fund their scholarships?
Of course they wouldn’t.

compared to finebaum, I would choose Steven A. Both arrogant, egotistical, and obnoxious, but at least I can laugh at some of the stuff Smith does. I find nothing funny about Finebaum, other than his goofy look.
